  4. I just listened to a podcast about #NightTerror⁣s and one that people kept talking about again and again, was the one of nightly paralysis:

You're in bed and realise, you can't move. Not at all.

Many people describe that somebody enters the room and makes noises, or that they feel somebody holds them down.

As I have heard of this, yet not as a widespread phenomenon, but as it seems to appear all over Latin America, I wonder whether this is culturally determined.

  6. #NightTerror: The Bomb on My Nightstand!
    (January 2012)
I woke up with a feeling of dread; my heart beating very fast. I saw a bomb on my nightstand. I jumped out of my bed and ran towards the door. For some reason, instead of going out the door, I turned around and stood for little while, frozen with fear, staring at the bomb. I, little by little, began gathering myself and after a minute or two I for some reason decided to take a closer look at the bomb with its red blinking light.

  7. BY THE WAY - if anyone else has ever had an "awareness attack" of you suddenly feeling every bit of your body in HD (including every fold of fabric on you like you suddenly realized you have spidey sense of some shit) that has lead into sleep walking and night terrors - PLEASE TELL ME.

I have never met anyone like me who has these, and doctor's can't measure them since they happen very rarely.

  8. #NightTerror: Ceiling is Falling!
    (March 2015)
I woke up suddenly and in a panic. I knew the ceiling was once again falling (like if it was something that had happened before). I had to take cover. I grabbed the comforter and threw myself onto the floor from my bed. There were no time to get to safety, so I simply curled up on the floor with the comforter covering me. I braced for impact of the falling ceiling.

  9. #NightTerror: Figure by My Bed!
    (July 2014)
I woke up a bit annoyed, as I thought it was someone outside my window who had been noisy as usual and woken me up. I kept lying still for a little bit, listening without hearing any noises from outside my window. I turned over, trying to fall asleep again - and in that moment I noticed the shadowy figure standing at the end of my bed.

  10. #NightTerror: Shadowy Creatures!
    (March 2012)
I woke up scared, feeling a presence in my room. I sat up and as looked around my room I noticed a handful of scary, blurry, shadowy figures; some big as a person, standing on the floor in front of my bed, others small and crawling around on my walls and ceiling.

  11. #NightTerror: Attack of the Facehugger!
    (February 2012)
I woke with a strong feeling that something was in my room; something which scared me. I sat up and began to vaguely be able to see a small dark-brown creature with six legs making its way towards my bed. I began getting even more scared and as the creature began walking towards me on top of my comforter.

  12. I've had many night terrors (or rather hypnopompic hallucinations) over the years. I've found them more of an annoyance than anything else. Definitely not something I've ever worried about (though some people have told me I'm haunted 😛).

I find it interesting what weird stuff my brain makes up - and I do remember the hallucinations afterwards, unlike dreams which I never can recall. Some years back I wrote down some of these night terror episodes - and I wanted to share here: #NightTerror
