  1. Daredevil through the (trading card) ages!

Which one is your favorite and why is it Series 2?

  2. Card 101: Ocean Master

I hope we get to see Patrick Wilson swimming around with that adorable little hand sub in Aquaman 2.

  3. And that's a wrap on #MU3!

Next up, as promised, DC Cosmic Cards, starting tomorrow!

    #TradingCardADay #DCCC1

  4. Power Ratings

Once again, a special Power Ratings card was included in special factory tin collections of the set.

The text alignment for Mental Powers bothers me more than it probably should.

  5. Card H5: Ghost Rider

Taking advantage of the hologram's 3D effect via Ghost Rider's chain almost singlehandedly makes the entire hologram gimmick worth it.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3

  6. Card H4: Venom
This is the first set of holograms in which Spider-Man doesn't appear. Instead, Venom does, which says something about comics at the time.

This is also the rare case where the regular Venom might be better.

  7. H3: Wolverine

This one is not too dissimilar from the "main" Wolverine card, with both featuring a more head-on, claws-first perspective.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3 #Xmen #Wolverine

  8. Card H2: Thing

The gratuitous foot for the sake of the 3D image I could do without, but otherwise, this is another dynamic image that I like way more that the "regular" Thing card in this set.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3 #Milestones

  9. Card H1: Hulk

I know these cards are drawn intentionally to be more dynamic w/greater planes of depth for the sake of the hologram, but also...there's no reason the normal cards couldn't be similarly dynamic.

  10. Card 200: Checklist

For as much as I generally dislike this series' heavy "portrait front, landscape back" orientation, I appreciate that it was applied to the checklist (even if it was only done out of necessity).

  11. Card 199: Wedding of Spider-Man

Mephisto's most hated card, this is technically another relatively recent milestone but one which, at least in '93, still felt more foundational to me than, say, the fall of Kingpin.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3 #Milestones

  12. Card 198: Fall of the Kingpin

Curious they didn't go w/Born Again, given that story was more acclaimed. Maybe it's too self-contained to count as an in-universe milestone, since Kingpin hadn't *yet* returned. 🤷‍♂️

    #TradingCardADay #MU3 #Milestones

  13. Card 197: Death of Gwen Stacy

This is a card where the little triangles on the borders are distracting, making it seem they're pointing at Gwen's body.

The cardback text seems to run out of room & leave out a word.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3 #Milestones

  14. Card 196: The Coming of Galactus

Maybe the best Epting card in the set? I really like the way Silver Surfer is just sort of hovering there, and how he & Galactus burst out of the borders.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3 #Milestones

  15. Card 195: Dark Phoenix Saga

The title icons on the cardbacks of this subset have such a delightfully early 90s computer generated graphics vibe to them, like the closing credits of the X-Men animated series.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3 #Milestones #XMen

  16. Card 194: All Hulks Unite

Another recent #Milestones, though this one feels like a bigger deal than the Lyja one. Maybe that's just a Hulk bias on my part. I do like the staging of the figures, and Banner's big round glasses.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3

  17. Card 193: Days of Future Past

I've always appreciated the inclusion of a relevant cover on the cardbacks of this subset; it's another way to connect to the history of the MU and get some more notable art into the set.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3 #Milestones

  18. Card 192: I Married a Skrull

New category: #Milestones! Another way this series engages with the broader history of the MU, though kicking it off w/DeFalco's big "Alicia was a Skrull!" retcon sure feels like recency bias.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3

  19. Card 191: Atlantis Attacks

As with the Evolutionary War card, the cardback text here makes the story seem way more cohesive than it actually is.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3

  20. Card 190: Kree vs. Skrull War

Isn't this is usually referred to as the "Kree-Skrull War?" Is the "vs." nomenclature an older usage?

At any rate, the card does a nice job of making the war seem more warlike than the actual story.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3

  21. Card 189: Infinity Gauntlet

More good headshot work on the back.

I don't remember Thor playing a super pivotal role in the story (versus, say, Warlock or Silver Surfer) but otherwise, really strong card.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3

  22. Card 188: Inferno

Great energy from the Jean/Maddie face-off on the back.

But between Nightcrawler on Evolutionary War & the Black Costume Spidey here, I'm starting to think Jarvinen is just randomly tossing in characters he likes.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3

  23. Card 187: Secret Wars

Epting again, and a stronger card this time. Still a little fuzzy on some details (where's Spider-Man's costume's webbing?) but the multiple planes of actions give it an enjoyable level of depth.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3

  24. Card 186: Operation Galactic Storm

It's the hot new war of '92!

The layout here is very similar to the one use on the OGS house ad from Tom Palmer; the card is very much missing Palmer's presence.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3

  25. Card 185: Evolutionary War

Love the inclusions of extra rocky Thing, though I'm pretty sure Nightcrawler sat this particular war out, given Excalibur didn't have traditional annuals at the time.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3

  26. Card 184: X-Tinction Agenda

New category: Wars! Which really could be called Events or Crossovers.

Always nice to see weird Cyborg Spider Crab Head Hodge. I also like how this seems to recreate a few moments from Uncanny #272.

    #TradingCardADay #MU3

  27. Card 183: Serpent Society

Always appreciate the inclusion of some villain teams, and these guys were a pretty regular fixture in the middle of Mark Gruenwald's long Cap run (though I thought Sidewinder was their leader? Or was that an earlier iteration?).

    #TradingCardADay #MU3

  28. Card 182: X-Men Blue

The rare instance in this era in which the Gold team comes off looking cooler than the Blue. Both Gambit on the front & Cyclops on the back look like they're trying to blow their hair out of their face.
