THE WORLD OF THOUGHTS
IS NOT THE REAL WORLD 💎I noticed something while I was walking this morning.
For years and years, I have been bypassing the real world with thinking.
Thought creates another world entirely. A world of memory, explanation, anticipation, judgement, interpretation and endless commentary about what everything means.
MEANWHILE, THE REAL WORLD IS STILL HERE.
Breathing. Walking. Air on my face. My feet on the ground. The weather. The sounds of the city. The taste of Thai food. The body moving through whatever is actually happening now in this present moment.
Thought can be useful when I deliberately turn it on to solve a problem, find an address, or order a meal. But simply drifting around inside random thought is a different order of unreality. I can spend half my life there without noticing that I have left what is actually happening now to vacation in Thought LaLa Land.
The strangest thing is that the real world never goes anywhere. It is always right here, right now.
And I don't have to fight against my random thoughts or get rid of them. I only have to notice that a thought is just a thought. It's meaningless unless I choose to assign meaning; when I don't, I auto-return to the real world in the here and now.
I come back to Reality.
Thought chatters endlessly about reality.
But the real world is what is here before thought says anything about it.
