Really impressed with #Shelly, the new package manager for #Arch that is now the default on #CachyOS. It is crazy fast! The only thing I wish it did was to queue the installation of Flatpaks the way it does for repo apps so they install all at once instead of one at a time.
I also installed it on Fives, my HP laptop running #Garuda, and it works great there as well. Still gonna’ use garuda-update for updates, though, just in case.

My little homelab, with Fox, Echo, and Hunter in my 3D-printed rack. Fox is my container host and file server. Echo runs Home Assistant. Hunter runs Pi-Hole. (I don’t believe in putting all of my eggs in one basket.)

@ethauvin @garuda Garuda is my new favorite distro as well!
I will say that it’s NOT a distro for newbies, as it’s opinionated, lacks an App Store for app discovery, and doesn’t support Flatpak OOTB.
But the jump in performance I got compared to Fedora was so dramatic that now I’m trying to install it on every computer I own. The RANI config tool is awesome, PLUS it supports hibernation OOTB for my laptops, something that #CachyOS doesn’t do.

#GarudaLinux with KDE Plasma is still my daily driver on Fives, and the more I use it, the more I like it.
Still not as easy as #Fedora when it comes to app installation and management, but Garuda is faster, supports hibernation on my laptop, and the built-in “Rani” app for system management is great stuff. So far, the only issues I’ve had with it are ones of my own making, so no complaints.

@blackvoid @[email protected] Yep. Every computer I manage is named after a Clone Trooper. Hunter is my Pi-Hole server, Echo runs Home Assistant, Fox hosts my containers and services, my main laptop is Fives, etc.
I know that I can do both Pi-Hole and Home Assistant in containers as well, but I don’t like having all of my eggs in one basket.

So after my all-nighter repairing my Omada Controller database and app corruption, I moved it to a container and now I back up all of my container bind mount locations with #Kopia, a handy cross-platform backup tool. And of course, it also runs in a container.

This was a very enlightening read. What’s even more amazing is that I actually understood a large portion of it.

Every time I install #Linux, I learn something new about Linux.
This time, it’s how to configure #NFS file sharing on my server and automount the shares on my clients, since #Garuda, and every Arch-based OS I’ve tried, gives me the finger whenever I try to use samba.
Not sure if this is an official distro hop from #Fedora just yet, but I am enjoying @garuda now that I can access my stuff.

Dogma has settled nicely into Linux Mint and has yet again saved himself from the scrap heap. He would freeze up regularly under Fedora and macOS anytime I tried to do anything video-related, but the problem has nearly vanished under Mint. Score one for older drivers, I suppose?

If you are an automotive engineer, or know someone who is an automotive engineer:
Please, for the love of all things good in the world:
SET THE DEFAULT MODE OF THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH TO “AUTOMATIC.” DO THIS FOR EVERY VEHICLE IN YOUR LINEUP.
The number of cars I see on the road without their lights on at night is just RIDICULOUS. Their fancy dashboards are all lit up, so drivers think that ALL the vehicle’s lights are on, when it’s just the DRLs.

@BrideOfLinux Good on Proton for making it free and open source.
I’m sticking with #2fas for the convenient desktop browser extension that requests the current code from my phone and fills it in automatically.

@thelinuxEXP #Kasm looks REALLY interesting, and the video was really informative!
But…
I was kinda hoping that you would have covered rustdesk.

FOSStastic apps are everywhere! I’ve been highlighting projects I’ve come across during my journey into #Linux and #FOSS. Please SUPPORT your favorite projects!
App Number 20: 2FAS - Free and open source two factor authentication app
Dump your proprietary TOTP authenticator app and go #OpenSource! Plus, #2FAS auto-fills the code for you when you install the browser extension!

I wished that we lived in some cool sci-fi future where I could put a helmet on my head and transmit my headache, head pressure, vertigo, & molasses brain directly to my doctor’s head so she can understand just how #debilitating this #LongCovid is every single day.Fuck that. Transmit it directly to the fuckers at the Cigna who won’t pay for the Long Covid clinic because it’s “out of network.”
