In around two weeks I’m migrating from iOS to a postmarketOS phone. Please leave app suggestions, I’m definitely going to need them!

Waydroid is… fine, but not preferred Please avoid android apps unless it’s something that is like confirmed to work well on waydroid, is proprietary or something so has no alternatives or something like that. I’m not launching waydroid to listen to music, to read my e-mails or to use xmpp.

Some examples of what I’m looking for, probably for Plasma Mobile:

1. Is there like… LibreOffice Mobile or something? To substitute the iWork suite?
2. Apple Music clients
3. Something self-hosted to substitute Siri, with ability to set timers and stuff
4. A reminders app that can sync with a caldav server
5. Is there a port of GadgetBridge for Linux?
6. I’ll probably make my own water logging and HealthKit-alternative app/“protocol” if that’s not a thing yet, but less work is less work if that exists
7. A XMPP client, preferably with spaces support
8. Immich client (preferably with some form of caching for recent photos)
9. Bitwarden client
10. HomeAssistant client
11. E-mail client
12. These will probably go on waydroid, but: WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord and Signal clients
13. Some kind of map app, maybe with live traffic data?
14. Some kind of backup wizzard to my NAS, tho I’ll probably just make some rsync scripts
15. A better keyboard than Plasma Mobile’s default

And also just anything y’all find useful in your daily life with a postmarketOS daily driver, I’m sure I’m forgetting a lot of stuff here.

I know some of those exist for desktop Linux, but I’m obviously looking for stuff made with phones in mind (so like… apps made for gnome should be automatically fine maybe?)

(Also, has anyone managed to get nix’s system-manager to work on postmarketOS? There’s no way I’m configuring all of this by hand every time I need to flash it lmao)

Does anyone actually use OpenNIC?

I selfhost my DNS with unbound, apparently it's simple to use OpenNIC's root server hints but then you remove ICANN ones.

I know OpenNIC's root servers also respond for ICANN domains, but what I was wondering is: can I use ICANN ones for ICANN domains and only use OpenNIC ones when ICANN root servers don't know about a TLD?

Tho... via Limine it doesn't seem to use UKI according to bootctl? How tf does it work then???

I imagine this is less safe than Lanzaboote then, since Lanzaboote makes measured UKIs, is it not possible to use UKI with Limine?

Uhhh should I choose Sileo or Zebra on my iOS 16 jailbreak (Dopamine)?

I’ve used both before, but both seem unmaintained now? Back in the old days Sileo had a bug that deleted all my repos too, I wonder if that’s fixed…

Meh, I think I liked Sileo better back then (even tho I used Zebra bc of the Sileo bug (and also Installer 5, but that seems closed source?)? Whatever, I’ll go for Sileo. It’s last commit is more recent than Zebra’s too.

Damn I miss jailbreaking, kinda wish there was a jailbreak for my main device.

Anyone wants a GOG key for #Mutazione?

I got a spare one here and I don’t really need it since I already own it for PC both on Steam and on physical media.

It’s an awesome piece of art, my favourite game ever, and my irl friends didn’t want to claim the key so it’d be cool to give it to someone on fedi :3

It’s native on Linux btw!!

I’ll give it to the first one who comments here on fedi, but if no one claims it until tomorrow I’ll probably do so myself to not let the key go to waste.

Are there any resources out there on modding Unreal Engine 4 games?

I know it’s relatively easy to decrypt the asset files and stuff, and maybe even to decompile the game, but then how would I get the edited stuff back into the game (and in a distributable way)?

Should I expect the game to be able to load the edited asset file without encryption alongside to the encrypted ones, since I probably wouldn’t be able to encrypt it with the same key as them, or nah?

How does stuff like those nfc chips some people implant on themselves work for credit card payments and stuff? Does it work like Apple Pay or something like that? Does the bank need to do anything to support it or do they just see it as a regular apple/google pay device?

Also, if the banks don’t need to do anything to support them then why don’t we have like open source reimplementations of google pay for postmarketOS or something?
