  1. RE: social.vivaldi.net/@NetscapeNa

My first exposure to a computer was #XP. Kept using it until the 6th grade.

Skipped #Vista since my PC couldn't handle it.

Got my first laptop in 7th grade, #Win7. Loved it.

When #Win8 came out, I started to see the OS I loved turn to shit. 8.1 was only a mild improvement.

10th grade, dualbooted #Win10 with #Ubuntu until Year-4 of Uni.

When #Win11 came out and I decided to fully commit to #Linux.

Tho I'm happy I jumped ship early on before this crap, can't help but mourn my childhood #OS.

  4. I was given a HP Stream 7 tablet yesterday, Originally it ran Windows 8 - Which must have been highly optimized for this. It only has 1gb ram, and 32gb storage. With an #Intel #Atom Z3235G quad core. So I tried to install #linux on it. The biggest frustration I'm having with it thou, is the #EFI only supports #32bit boot. And I've only found #Antix to actually install, but I can't get wifi to work, or sound. I think #Lubuntu might work but it fails at installing grub i386.

After some troubleshooting, I successfully fixed it, and here it is, running good old 8061:

  22. So...
I got (read - paid for) #ProWritingAid not long ago to help improve my #writing.
    The last update wouldn't work.
After a few emails exchanged with their Help center, I was informed that from the last update, #Win8.1 is not supported anymore.
This information was not available anywhere on their site when I purchased the program. It wasn't there when I downloaded the latest update either.
The information is not on the site at all, not even now. I searched for it.
There is no mention of supported OS versions when trying to purchase the app.
Don't get me wrong - I love the program, it's quite helpful.
But this is bad. This is not how you manage/update/sell a program to customers.
Every self-respecting vendor informs customers well in advance when they stop supporting a specific OS version. And that information is clearly mentioned on their site.
    I am disappointed.
Never mind that I paid for a year, and more than half of it I will not get any updates.
    Bah.
