I fucking loathe my windows work machine.

Time to set a new password. So I follow the instructions. Ctrl+Alt+Del, change password, all good. A small notification pops up

"Windows needs your password. Please lock the system and unlock it"

So I lock the system and put in my password again...

And I get a message telling me that this account is disabled for some reason..... Amazing...

Just heard Microsoft is making the Win11 taskbar movable.

It took them nigh FIVE YEARS and (I'm not exaggerating) I moved Win10>Linux a year ago as they had publicly "identified" the ask when the OS had been in beta, and hadn't implemented it by early 2025. This was the proof to me that the canary was dead.

Yeah, there were copilot and ads, but without using the OS I couldn't imagine how it affected usability.

Not going back, though.

Apparently #Win11 updated in the last few days. It reinstalled LinkedIn and a bunch of windows apps (notepad, paint, etc) that I had specifically removed in the past. It also completely reset my start pins to put the #Windows apps there, removing all my pins.

#Microslop *claimed* to back off #AI embedding in the OS. If anything, the embedding and vibe coding is getting worse...

Vor ein paar Wochen hat #Microslop versprochen weniger KI in #Win11 zu packen. Nun behaupten sie, Sie hätten damit angefangen....
Denkste! Die haben einfach das Logo geändert und einen neuen Namen reingepackt. Statt "Copilot" heisst es jetzt "Writing Tool".

Das #LinuxMint ist endlich auf dem Laptop installiert. Das war heute eine ganz schöne Orgie.
Ganz ehrlich? Der Installer von #Linux Mint ist der letzte Scheißdreck. Zumindest, wenn es darum geht ein Dual Boot System mit #Win11 zu installieren, bei dem beide Systeme auf der Selben Festplatte laufen.
Ich hatte auf verschiedenen Wegen drei Fehlversuche. Jeder mit dem gleichen Fehler. Fehler beim Kopieren, ISO oder CD beschädigt. Hä?
Irgendwann habe ich herausgefunden, dass Mint sich auf den USB Stick installieren wollte. Und das Ziel konnte nicht geändert werden. Einzige Möglichkeit war am Ende auf manuelle Installation umzuschalten, den freien Bereich auf der Platte selber zu partitionieren und dann zu installieren. Sowas ist totaler Mist, wenn Umsteiger so ein System aufsetzen wollen. Die sind für Linux verloren und bleiben bei #Windows. Mint leistet Linux hier einen Bärendienst. Bevor die Mint-Entwickler irgendwas neues machen sollten sie erstmal einen vernünftigen Installer entwickeln

Well, if you would like to avoid #operatingsystem (OS) #enshittification, I really recommend getting in touch to your local #FOSS community and run #Linux on your machine.

It's almost perfectly shit-free, you can update the whole OS as well as all(!) applications with one command any time YOU decide, it runs much faster (yes, even many Windows apps including most #games if you can invest some efforts here), doesn't require you to switch hardware after a couple of years, doesn't suck out any personal data of you, and doesn't force #AI slob onto you.

Not to mention the huge difference in #security.

Take back control yourself and #digitalSouvereignity will follow.
