Antonio Syxty nasce a Buenos Aires e vive a Milano dove si dedica all’arte visiva, alla performance e alla regia. Ancora studente di liceo, redige autonomamente una tesi sulle scritture visuali e d’avanguardia in Italia (1940-1974), preludio al suo percorso artistico. Dopo una formazione, tra il 1975 e il 1976, negli Stati Uniti in Art and Drama e Creative Writing, torna in Italia e realizza numerose art-performance. Nel 1978 fonda Oh-ART!, manifesto concettuale, e crea l’Antonio Syxty Fan Club, progetto autobiografico volutamente fittizio. Alla fine degli anni ’70 si afferma come performer in gallerie e spazi underground, collaborando con figure di rilievo dell’arte, del design e della musica come Alessandro Mendini, Nanda Vigo, Franco Battiato, Ivan Fedele, Andrea Branzi, Mauro Staccioli, Cinzia Ruggeri, Elio Fiorucci, Krizia e altri. Negli anni ’80 espone opere su carta e tela nei circuiti artistici milanesi, con un linguaggio influenzato dall’arte concettuale, comportamentale, con richiami alla body art. Parallelamente realizza scritture visive e intrattiene carteggi con Ugo Carrega, Arrigo Lora-Totino, Emilio Isgrò, Adriano Spatola, Nanni Balestrini, Edoardo Sanguineti, Antonio Porta. Il suo lavoro di scrittura rimane principalmente inedito con rare eccezioni. Negli anni ’90 si concentra sulla regia teatrale e multimediale. Collabora con RAI e Mediaset per progetti di regia facendo cinema, televisione, pubblicità, moda, concerti, eventi live e installazioni. Attualmente è coordinatore artistico di MTM – Manifatture Teatrali Milanesi della Fondazione Palazzo Litta per le Arti e svolge attività di content creator su canali digitali.
