was looking at a vintage folding rule my partner has. it’s one of those beautifully crafted wooden, boxwood and brass tools. it’s by Hockley Abbey (John Rabone and Sons tools in Birmingham, UK). common thing as they were making 27,000 a week by 1945!
but it’s the #numerals that i’m taken by, look at the curls on the 2 and 3.

I got this vise in a lot of tools at auction last month. I'm removing the metal jaws and replacing them with wooden ones for bench use.

These two vises are heavy for their size. The small one (Craftsman) weighs 30#. The other one weighs 50#. I think someone was a little bit careless with their drilling on the large one.

This was a Lot I got from an auction last month that was titled, Pile of Old Tools. And it was just stuff they'd thrown in a corner of a large outbuilding. 🤷🏼♂️ I love C-clamps so this was like BINGO! to me.

Der hier war die Woche auch ausgiebig im Einsatz. Über 20 Jahre alt und tut nach wie vor klaglos seinen Dienst. Ja, ich habe inzwischen auch was moderneres, das ich aber eigentlich nur wegen der Wechselköpfe anschaffte.
Der hier ist schwerer, der Akku hält nicht so lange, er baut länger, alles schön und gut. Aber diese Woche wieder gemerkt, das ist immer noch ein tolles, solides Werkzeug, mit dem man prima arbeiten kann 😊

I bought a set of machinists tools at a garage sale this morning. They are a bit rusty and dirty so I’m cleaning them up with some WD40. This is the “before” photo. I’m going slowly and being gentle so the after might take a while to mainfest.

I fixed one of my old Jigsaws.
It's not a tool I used very often and for some reason I have four of them!
Reaching for this one for a rare outing, I noticed the original blade clamp had split around the screw thread and was no longer serviceable.
The original clamp seemed to be a Mazak or Zamak casting so I made a replacement from a gash piece of mild steel.
I like to give steel pieces an oil blue finish.
