@danhon I suggested we either set up a instance for verified journalists or convince news outlets to set up their own. I have no way of proving to Mastodon that I'm the same person who has a "verified" checkmark on Twitter.

Leaving TW comes w/heavy cost. As a self employed author, those 10.5K followers provided a revenue stream. That reach/audience is gone. I don’t have a day job. I don’t have a husband whose salary subsidizes my work. I also am sensitive to leveraging/monetizing this #fediverse. I’m a newbie who wishes to honor the community. But I also need to pay rent/eat.
