Because I don't have enough to do, I've been thinking about tricorders, e.g. https://github.com/tricorderproject/arducordermini?tab=readme-ov-file.
Tricorders have three parts: sensors, processing, display, and storage. Sensors are the hard part, the place to spend most of your build and design time. If you can buy or make the sensors, then the rest is easy (e.g. can run on a laptop or tablet).
Have you encountered an interesting sensor, especially one with WiFi or Bluetooth built in? Please tell me about it.

So, I learned that #SBC #ComputeModule newest models tend to be "#MachineLearning optimized". If I am going to try to build a personal equivalent of #StarTrek #Tricorder, or #Fallout #PipBoy, (a) is it going to be some sensible use for this feature, (b) I should just ignore it, or (c) is it better to get older version, without it? -

#TIL that CBS Studios used a DMCA takedown to get an Android app called Tricorder removed from app stores. They could claim with some justification that "tricorder' is a trademark (disclaimer; IANAL), but the name was not the problem. Apparently they were claiming to own a copyright on Michael Okuda's visual design for the Tricorder UI.
