  6. This paper looks at Arabic translations of Tiutchev's poetry and finds that much of the implicit meaning—textual ambiguity, Christian symbolism, Romantic subtext, and key motifs like "fate" and "abyss"—is lost or distorted. Even when translators prioritize accuracy over rhyme/meter, cultural and linguistic gaps prove hard to bridge

  7. This paper argues that Tiutchev’s 1851 translation of Schiller’s Das Siegesfest (Pominki) was actually written in 1848–49, triggered by Zhukovskii’s Odyssey translation and the European revolutions. Tiutchev used the ancient theme to compete with Zhukovsky poetically and to push back against revolutionary chaos—making the translation a political as well as literary act.

  22. Does anyone in the #localisation and/or #freelancing bubble here have got any tips for how I would efficiently break out of the "single client" death loop into sustainable client acquisition?

I have been doing this job for several years now and it's been amazing. I'm just afraid of betting everything on one horse. If the agency that hires me most goes under for any reason I lose my livelihood.

My current ideas are in the replies:
