His suspicions were piqued when he saw the grade distribution and confirmed when a teaching assistant fed the question through ChatGPT, which solved the problem the same way.
Among the 86 students in “Welfare Economics and Social Choice Theory,” the average score on the midterm was 96, and nearly half of the students earned a perfect 100. In previous years, the average midterm grade ranged from 65 to 80.

@technews I'd like to think that striking chart is due to non-cheating reasons, like testing conditions lowering stress and permitting better thought. But a mass-cheating explanation would be an extremely serious academic matter.
Brown is a great place, and I expect everyone there to honor that with integrity.
