The heart—not the brain—is the true seat of intelligence.
A beautiful preview clip from the upcoming Podmasana conversation with Dr. Edi Bilimoria, exploring consciousness, perennial philosophy, and mind beyond the brain.
Full episode releases 27 May.
Thank you Brendon Orr and @podmasana for such a thoughtful conversation.

A long overdue lunch and thoughtful conversation yesterday with Taposhri Ganguli and Amit ahead of their summer wedding ❤️
One of the enduring joys of exploring questions of consciousness, philosophy, science, and perennial wisdom is the dialogue and friendship such inquiry continues to foster across generations and cultures.
Books and podcasts are, in many ways, simply extensions of these ongoing conversations.

For many years I have spoken of consciousness not as something trapped inside the brain, but as something vast, living and deeply interconnected with the whole of life itself.
Perhaps that is why images like this feel quietly symbolic to me… the eternal human longing to rise, to see further, to widen perspective.
My deepest gratitude to everyone supporting “Consciousness Came First.” 🙏

It was a pleasure to join Jonathan Brown for the Shepheard-Walwyn podcast in conversation on my latest book, "Consciousness Came First".
We explore whether consciousness is a product of the brain, or its underlying ground.

A quotation from C W Leadbeater
Sometimes people grieve when they find old age coming upon them, when they find their vehicles not so strong as they used to be. They desire the strength and the faculties that they once had. It is wise for them to repress that desire, to realize that their bodies have done good work, and if they can no longer do the same amount as of yore, they should do gently and peacefully what they can, but not worry themselves over the change. Presently they will have new bodies; and the way to ensure a good vehicle is to make such use as one can of the old one, but in any case to be serene and calm and unruffled. The only way to do that is to forget self, to let all selfish desires cease, and to turn the thought outward to the helping of others as far as one’s capabilities go.
C. W. Leadbeater (1846-1934) English clergyman, theosophist, author [Charles Webster Leadbeater]

What is meant by the simple injunction, “Know Thyself”?
Does it refer only to the body… or to something far deeper that expresses through it?
"Consciousness Came First" explores the unfolding of consciousness as the primary principle of existence, and its expression through both the subtle and the material.
A contribution to the perennial philosophy in dialogue with modern science.
Publishing 28 April with Collective Ink Books.

Consciousness may not be produced by the brain, but expressed through it.
If so, the implications for science are profound.

Satanists are spiritual, but that does not mean being #spiritual is satanic. It's like being human.... All theosophists are human, but because you are human does not make you a theosophist. Do not be deceived into thinking #theosophy is evil. The word is misused. If they are using witchcraft, call them witches. If they are summoning devils to curse people, call them satanists.
The word Theo-Sophy means "God-Wisdom", and is not evil.
