  1. After 7 years, @typinghero's shortcuts finally have proper icons.

Version 8.0 is all about polishing!

  2. So, I recreated all of my #TextExpander snippets in #KeyBoardMaestro today. I cancelled my subscription to TextExpander. We'll see if i miss it, but i don't think I will.

  7. Here's a piddly little #Productivity hack I threw together this week, and it's saving me tons of time.

I spend a lot of my day in #Jira. I also spend ALL day in #Obsidian.

My obsidian vault is overrun with links, internal and external. I set up a #TextExpander macro to accept a Jira issue number, and return a #Markdown link to the issue URL.

Super easy, super simple, but SUPER handy.

    #textexpander #texpander

  14. 🌟 Oh joy, another tech hipster's dream: a text expander written in Rust! Because why use existing solutions when you can rewrite the wheel in the trendiest language? 🚀 Meanwhile, on #GitHub, we're drowning in buzzwords, but hey, at least it's "cross-platform"! 🙄

  15. For those like me who want a an app to replace Text Expander on Mac, there is another app called Typinator. It's a really good and accessible alternative to Text Expander in my opinion. Text Expander is a really good app, but it's with a subscription. Personally, I don't see myself using it to the point where I have to pay monthly for the thing. Typinator on the other hand is a one time Purchase. You can create sets and create replacement rules in them, and also have the app ask you to fill some variables from the expanded template just like in Text Expander, in Typinator they show up one after the other. I've only tested the app to see if it's accessible for a few minutes, and it's really good so far. The main thing is that it's a one time buy and it also has a lot of features that Text Expander has. #Blind #Mac #MacApps #TextExpander #Typinator

  33. Was looking for a non-subscription no-login #TextExpander app that's a bit better than #iOS keyboard #TextReplacements.

I found #Espanso. Almost gave up on it. Had trouble getting started finding* base.yml on my MacBook and making sense of the instructions. By accident*, I got to the base.yml and got it to open in the text editor.

Many #opensource #apps I've encountered have documentation that assumes some techie knowledge. To me, it's like their basic* starts at intermediate*. 🙄 #NotATechie

  38. Espanso is a useful tool to expand text in Linux, so that you can use your typographic quotes the way you wanted them.

    espanso.org/

I had to install it after numerous failed attemps to make the Compose key not working on my virtual Ubuntu desktop (as a service)—I ❤️ my smart quotes, and I’m not giving up on them :)
