  1. #Productivity thought

One of the things I would LOVE to see with #OmniFocus is the ability to create a linked note in something like #Obsidian or #AppleNotes.

While OmniFocus does have a little bit of a notes area, my notes section tends to be super intense with links everywhere.

It's Friday. I might look into doing this with OmniFocus automations or #KeyboardMaestro

  7. My monthly update for March 2026 is out now! This month there's some new networking gear, lots of stuff about #KeyboardMaestro (and some #Alfred), some behind the scenes insights for a labs video I did with @macsparky, and a few software bits and pieces.

Grab yourself a drink and read along at buymeacoffee.com/sylumer/march, then share it on to a friend or colleague ☕️

  8. So, I recreated all of my #TextExpander snippets in #KeyBoardMaestro today. I cancelled my subscription to TextExpander. We'll see if i miss it, but i don't think I will.

  9. I've made a #Keyboardmaestro macro that allows me to get a transcribed clip from a timeline imported from #Resolve and match it back to the original multicam file in #FCPX :))

    30 keystrokes replaced by one!

This would be impossible with Resolve itself as it's not as driven by keyboard shortcuts as FCP!

  10. Mystified. How can an AppleScript that works perfectly from Script Editor be broken when called by Keyboard Maestro?

(Putting off hunting for an actual answer to next week.)

  11. Building off of what we learned at #Macstock2025 from @TheMikeBurke, I automated building new project folders using shell scripting and Keyboard Maestro. I had more fun doing that than starting my ScreenCastsONLINE project. Don't tell @leegarrett

  12. My free monthly update for July is live!

This month I've got a powerful new #StreamDeck plugin for #Mac automation, a great update to my #Alfred workflow for #KeyboardMaestro, something geeky on #SuccessFactors #Learning, and a new #3DPrint for “#Underware”, the under desk cable management system based on for #Multiboard.

If you follow me on Buy Me A Coffee (for free, no coffee required), you can get my monthly update as an email straight to your inbox. Tell a friend!

  13. v1.7.0 of Conductor, my #Alfred workflow for #KeyboardMaestro is now available with some great new features.

In fact, there are quite a lot of new features (list attached), with code and logic behind the scenes, so if you spot anything buggy, let me know.

  14. Another monthly round up is out now. Find out what I got up to in May, including pieces on #KeyboardMaestro, #SuccessFactors Learning, #3DPrinted RC car ramps, and many other geeky things that crossed my path and my mind.

  15. New post up using #KeyboardMaestro to build a piece of functionality I missed from the NoteTab text editor - something that while running appends any clipboard updates to a special clipboard. A bit like a printing calculator roll.

  16. With 2025 just beginning, my December 2024 update is now out. There's a bonanza of updates this month as I do stuff with #KeyboardMaestro, #VisualStudioCode, #Alfred, #Drafts, and #Tot. I also cover the usual forum stuff, update an #Obsidian vault and launch a (not so mysterious) new site.

  17. There's a new post on my blog today about saving link files and web archives for web pages using #KeyboardMaestro, with options for Finder, #Forklift, and #PathFinder.

I find these macros handy when I want to keep links or snapshots of pages where I've downloaded a file to a particular folder. As a result they tend to get most use when I'm building out reference material for sharing.

  18. @Tirial I use #keyboardmaestro for so many things I’m not even sure where to start. Most common daily use is global keyboard shortcuts, e.g., Cmd-shift-option-ctrl-S to open Safari (I I use Karabiner to remap the Caps Lock key to command-shift-option-control). I also turn my extended keyboard numeric keypad into free StreamDeck. I have a dozen macros that do more complicated things, like one that un-formats and pastes text but works in all apps (special casing MS Word and a few others).

  19. In the last week I've had two people look at me with delight when seeing how I make Safari dance like a little automation monkey with @drafts, @KeyboardMaestro and @OmniFocus , and I realised I don't market my MousHero extension enough...

  20. Breaking my retreat from social media to share a cool #KeyboardMaestro #automation.

I love @unwatched: it has completely changed my use of YouTube, and now more than ever, I don't want the algorithm to recommend anything to me.

Adding videos manually to it is quick enough, especially with the embedded #Shortcuts support, but this morning I built a @KeyboardMaestro automation that takes it to a whole new level, automatically adding each YT URL I copy on my Mac:

  21. About to hit the nuke button on my #shortcutsapp and rid all my #shortcuts from the app due to these sync issues. Tired of seeing my shortcuts out of sync between devices. All of my shortcuts are in folders on the Mac and iPhone but I go to my iPad and they are vomited everywhere. Going to delete all my shortcuts and hope it removes from all devices then automate restoring each shortcut back into the app from my backup and sync. Using #keyboardmaestro to perform screen clicks while I sleep.

  22. When there is no Raycast extension for Safari just yet to leverage the summarize tools....etc. You improvise with some nerdyness which works flawlessly ;-)

  23. Do you use a hyper key on #macOS, i.e. a combo of several of the modifiers, mapped to another key, like Capslock? So do I, here's a tip you *might* not know.

My hyper key "only" triggers ⌥, ⌃, and ⇧, but not ⌘. I set it up this way because I use Hyper + letter key to launch various apps¹. But by using ⌘ as a "Hyper key modifier" I can put two apps on the same letter key. For example, Hyper+E launches VSCode, but Hyper+⌘+E launches Sublime Text.

    ¹) Via #KeyboardMaestro.

  24. #keyboardmaestro experts: I have a macro that I trigger every work day. However, I'd like to either:

    - listen for a keyboard input w/in 5 seconds, or
    - check my calendar for an all-day event titled “Nic OOO”

And if those are true, stop running my work macro.

Is there an easy way to do either of those triggers?

  25. One of the most useful tricks I've put up is adding a 'Scratchpad' key to my laptop — in fact, I'm using it to write this post!

    Here's how I did it:

    1. Set up Keyboard Maestro with a workflow that toggles BBEdit's built-in 'Scratchpad' window. If the window is minimized, the workflow restores it, and vice versa.
    2. Bind the Keyboard Maestro workflow so it's triggered by F20 (a function key not on any of my keyboards).
    3. On my desktop keyboard, map a macro key to F20. On my Macbook, use Karabiner to bind tapping the Globe/Fn key to F20.

That's it! No matter what I'm doing, I can now tap a key and have a quick text scratchpad that's useful for writing and editing things in a real, resizable, doesn't-lose-content-if-the-browser-crashes window.

(For bonus points, I used Karabiner to bind that same F20 key so that if it's pressed -with- another key, it acts like the Super modifier instead!)

  26. Has anyone had any issues using Pastebot with apps like Alfred or Keyboard Maestro that have clipboard histories?
