For those like me who want a an app to replace Text Expander on Mac, there is another app called Typinator. It's a really good and accessible alternative to Text Expander in my opinion. Text Expander is a really good app, but it's with a subscription. Personally, I don't see myself using it to the point where I have to pay monthly for the thing. Typinator on the other hand is a one time Purchase. You can create sets and create replacement rules in them, and also have the app ask you to fill some variables from the expanded template just like in Text Expander, in Typinator they show up one after the other. I've only tested the app to see if it's accessible for a few minutes, and it's really good so far. Ok, update, la versión “vieja” de #Typinator que tengo, y la última versión* de @1password que permite tener bóvedas locales y sincronizar entre mis dispositivos sin mandar mis passgüors a algún servidor en el internet (el horror!!) si funcionan en #Sonoma.

De momento no ha habido desastres. Seguiremos informando.

*BTW, esa versión es la 6 para la #Mac, la 7 en el aipat y el aifon

(You don’t want a third-party tool to be able to snoop while you type it in.) Problem is… like everything else in #macOS, this security feature is BUGGY. Sometimes it stays on even when you are no longer in a secure environment. In this case, it says it’s still on because of Microsoft Word… but Word isn’t even running!

No choice but to reboot. Grrr.

#Espanso bietet mir jetzt 1:1 die selbe Funktionalität wie #Typinator, inklusive Anbindung an eigene Skripte. Sogar ein Suchfenster gibt es – was sich natürlich auch über den von Typinator gewohnten Shortcut öffnet.

I use #Typinator to automate text input. It only works outside of password fields. Fine. In order to keep me aware, I have configured the app to play a system beep when #macOS switches to “secure input” mode.

Today, I was working in #Word as usual when all of a sudden I heard the sound, out of the blue. Sure enough, Typinator’s menu extra signaled the problem. It tries to be helpful by telling me what it means, but all it could say here was that the mode was enabled by “<sec>”. WTH?
