  1. “The new legislation, expected later this year, would give ministers a fast-track route for introducing draft laws to align with future European standards designed to ensure a single market in the trade of goods and services.

The new powers would apply to agreements they are planning with the EU on food standards, carbon pricing for industry and electricity trading.

New rules would be introduced as "secondary" legislation, which receives less scrutiny and gives MPs a more limited role in approving it.

This echoes the process that was followed before Brexit - when the government adopted hundreds of such laws each year to fulfil EU legal obligations.

But it is likely to prove more controversial this time, ***because the UK no longer has voting rights at the EU to shape European legislation in the first place.***”

If it speaks English and it moves, there’s a high chance it will shoot itself in the foot.

  7. Today, after years of growing anger and frustration, I have finally deleted my Facebook and my Twitter accounts. I have stopped using both a while ago, hoping things might improve. But they don't. Leaving these platforms is the only significant agency we have as individuals. We have a moral duty to exert that agency. They only listen to the metrics. Tonight, it's –1.

  8. 606 000 net immigration in UK in 2022. A record. Brillant Brexit result!

Side note: immigration is not bad per se. Using it as a political tool is.

  9. bird.makeup/users/NatalieElphi Do you think the penny will ever drop with some of these Tory MP'S - that is what #brexit is! This is what #takingbackcontrol meant! Also why are they surprised that the French 🇫🇷 also have #sovereignty over their own borders 🛂

  10. Moving away from Bird App, one step at a time. 😌

Not gonna lie, though, just the last 2-3 days felt great with limited Twitter (5 opens a day, 5 mins max) : I didn't even use all my “opens” yesterday! 😊

I'm tired of these hellsites. I wanna stop wasting my time on these toxic places.

  11. More #brexitreality;

#China's major entrant to the #electricvehicles sector, on considering where to build its major #european car plant, didn't even have the UK in its top ten options... as they put it:

'The UK doesn’t have a very good solution... Even on the long list we didn’t have the UK'.

Hold, on surely #takingbackcontrol was meant to ensure we could welcome such major investments....

Oh, hold on; did they need access to the #singlemarket, do you think?

  12. Decentralised federalism, #Mastodon ‘s modus operandi, is a core anarchist constitutional principle, shaping almost every major anarchist organisations worldwide since the 1870s. Just sayin… #everydayanarchism

And because you get more characters here…this piece by Colin Ward is interesting because it explains anarchist federalism in the context of European integration around the time of the Maastricht Treaty (1992). #takingbackcontrol

  13. As the companies are multinational - that is to say the same in both cases - this is €140 billion from the UK taxpayer going to support the EU.
