If anyone's looking for an excellent biography or critical evaluation of the work of #sociologist C. Wright Mills (author of The #PowerElite, Causes of World War 3, etc.), I highly recommend #StanleyAronowitz's Taking It Big: C. Wright Mills & the Making of Political #Intellectuals.

It assesses Mills's major works & how he continuously worked to make public interventions, during a repressive political era in the US (1940s & 1950s), at odds w/ the Stalinist left & liberal apologists. #reading

It's good to see that some in #Australia have been able to identify #JobKeeper as a #scam. Designed to enrich the #powerElite, and the #extremelyWealthy, while regular honest #Australians, #casualWorkers, #unemployed and the #lessFortunate are left behind.

Is it possible to radically simplify #tax and #socialSecurity by removing all #profitLoss garbage, so manipulated by the #powerElite, to instead focus all taxes on #landTax (based on #rentalValue/#salePrice) and #GST (on #manufactured/#nonEssential items, see #Australia)?

A #btcFuture will be different. It could be more #equitable…

#Govts and #bigBusiness are using the #opportunity (#crisis) for various things, good and bad, including, no particular order:
- test #reduceTravel (especially #airTravel), not necessarily for the #powerElite who can use #privateJets and #helicopters.
- test #UBI,
- buy up #assets at #lowerPrices,
- boost #militaryBudget, increase #militarisation of #policeForce (especially in #Australia),

Do people in rich neighbourhoods like it when you protest for #JulianAssange while passing through their treelined, peaceful streets?

I personally think they would because at least on social media, they tend to signal their virtue a lot.

Tell that to the #powerElite in their #privatePlanes and helicopters, #printingMoney to buy up literally everything and bringing in #slaveLabour from overseas by plane at all hours of the night and day to build the #highrises they intend to pack us into.

They are having a good little time at our expense. Big gains ahead for them.

But a person wouldn't know it from watching the #ABCNews (#AustralianBroadcastingCoronavirusNews).

Sure there's a silverLining, but some honesty is needed.
