  1. (2/3) So I started putting together my own setup with #waybar, #walker, #swaync, etc. Pretty quickly, though, I realized that getting anywhere near the level I am used to would eventually be a rocky path (Quick Settings with keyboard navigation, for example).

    Ideally, I'd probably would have to build my own complete shell with #quickshell. But I simply don't have the time or expertise to do that.

  2. I might start using #niri in parallel with #gnome and would like to ask you, fans of scrolling tiling #windowmanager (s), what I should use if my goal is
    - a bar;
    - a launcher;
    - a lock screen;
    - and notifications.

    ... and I'd like to achieve a GNOME-like aesthetic.

    Should I go custom with #waybar, #walker, #gtklock and #swaync, or should I try to accept the multitude of features I will never use and get comfortable with #dms or #noctalia?

  3. Ziele für heute:
    Fertigstellung Lebenslauf (dringend)

    Schritt 1: Arbeitsplatz vorbereiten
    Mein letzter Lebenslauf war in #LaTeX. Das ist eine gute Gelegenheit für einen Rewrite in #Typst.

    Schritt 2: Typst Templates suchen
    Die sehen alle ziemlich gut aus. Wollte ich nicht schon lange meinen Compositor etwas aufhübschen? Ich probiere mal #hyprland!

    Schritt 3: Hyprland installieren
    Und nun noch die vielen Standardanwendungen... #Dunst, #Mako, #swaync? Erstmal die Unterschiede recherchieren

  4. @BenRiceM oh God, that's a messed-up vibe-coded #Swaync config :mail_smirk:

  5. Hat mir jemand hier eine gute #swaync (#sway notification center) Vorlage?
    Minimalistisch im Design, aber mit vielen Funktionen ausgestattet.

    #hyprland #windowtiling #linux #wayland #waybar

  6. Cool. Finally got around to setting up a proper notification daemon in #swaywm. I went with #swaync. And after installing libnotify as well, Firefox notifications show up nice and aren't half hidden under #waybar.

    Shout-out to the kind dude on the swaywm #irc channel for pointing me in the right direction.

  7. OK. I need to stop. Otherwise, this will never end. Customizing a new install is a time pit.
