  3. An interesting tiling Window Manager has spawned upon the Open Source plane

    kuskokwim

    Dependencies

    • Python
    • has Vim VimMasterRace bindings
    • Wayland River compositor (>= 0.4).
    • alpha version

    Interesting points
    *   Composable keybindings inspired by vim
    *   Spawned processes can be tracked and restarted, bound to keys, etc.
    *   Many other objects (workspaces, outputs, windows, etc.) can be bound to keys
    *   Preferentially attach workspaces to specific outputs

  4. Also, I think the #WindowManager needs to support #UTF8 natively, so the title bar doesn't show #bakemoji when viewing a page with #Japanese. Not sure why, but on my #Gentoo box, #Fluxbox does not show Japanese in the title bar.

  5. IceWM 4.0 è arrivato e porta con sé un miglioramento sostanziale al suo iconico switcher Alt+Tab, insieme al supporto per icone ad alta risoluzione e numerose ottimizzazioni. #IceWM #Linux #WindowManager

This is some hot tiling compositor! Not only you can swipe apps into boxes, but scroll these boxes around like a sprawling buffet by tapping window decorations.

  8. True minimalism!!! I definitely have to try it 🤣

"Mwm: an X11 window manager in 20 lines of code

Is KDE too much for you? GNOME tries to do too much? Xfce still a bit too fancy? Do you need something smaller? Even more minimalist? What about a mere 20 lines of code which provide the absolute barest possible minimum of window management functionality?

    You need mwm."

  13. Today I tried to use a regular window manager again after living in #Emacs #exwm for about a year.

I just gave up: it feels constrained and unusable.

M-x exwm-init to the rescue. Much nicer again, despite its shortcomings.

  14. The wonderful thing about Linux is that there isn't one way to do things, but rather a plethora. This is even true for Tiling Window Managers! On Linux, you can use i3, bspwm, dwm, awesomewm, xmonad, sway, hyprland, river, and many many others. I personally use bspwm, but have used others in the past, and they all provide that minimalist, keyboard centric workflow. How about you? Which Tiling Window Managers have you tried?

  15. Who remembers the early days of @elementary? Well I do and I'm recreating their old top right corner version of their as others have done with (maketecheasier.com/wingpanel-s) but I'm doing it in with as the 😎👍

Yes, I'm doing thing very Linux-y but combining what I think are the best solutions. I wanted a and desktop with drag-n-drop window snapping (Vista's Aero Snap)
