#Fedilab uses #UnifiedPush for push notifications in every version. The Google Play version comes with a built-in distributor that relies on Google, so notifications work right away. The #FDroid version cannot include that built-in distributor, so you need to install a separate one, like #ntfy or #Sunup. Once it is installed and selected in Fedilab, push works the same way. This is why F-Droid users need an extra app while Google Play users do not. This extra step is not specific to Fedilab.

The implementation to get Web Push support, for UnifiedPush, on Flatline (soft fork of Signal server) is ready to be reviewed!

Hopefully it will land in Signal one day

Als Wettet-App komm ich mit Breezy Weather ganz gut klar.

I like ntfy, i use it to mostly for transfer text from one device to another especially when i am working in a non owned device. It is easy to transfer text (for bookmark, quotes, notes) as i am already using #sunup i don't want another push notification distributer so i tried whether i can use ntfy as PWA app through #fennec browser as it use #unifiedpush to send notification. This setup worked great for me so far.

One problem is #fennec need to be foreground or background

Hey #DuckDuckFedi, I'm using #Sunup as #UnifiedPush service on my Android phone. A few days ago it started telling me that it's disconnected whenever I switch over to mobile data rather than WiFi. Search results aren't helping.
It reliably starts working again as soon as I reconnect to WiFi. It reliably stops working the second I switch to mobile data.
I have not changed any settings, there might have been a Sunup update at the start of this, but there are no patch notes indicating a possible cause.

Any ideas what might be causing this and how to fix it? Or even just anyone else experiencing this issue?

#fossdem2026 watching video about #UnifiedPush really interesting idea. I tried it out with #sunup #fdroid app as distributor.

I am using #fennecfox browser, #fedilab , #goguma , #fosswarn apps with it.

Only #goguma configured automatically rest I have changed in settings tab. #fosswarn - Foss warning installed after #sunup so asked after starting the app.

#tusky didn't worked for me though

ich bin auch noch nicht lange dabei mit meinem Pixel 7a und #grapheneos.
Aber ich hab folgende Erfahrungen.
Zuerst immer Apps aus dem #fdroid Store mit #droid-ify und #accrescent store verwenden. 2. Wahl ist #aurora Store.
#nextcloud, #davx5, #forkclient statt Telegram, #sunup als #pushclient, Passwortmanager #keepassdx, Galerie #aves, Kontakte #fossifycontacts und Kalender #etar, zum Austausch zwischen Profilen #interprofilesharing

#grapheneos auf meinem #pixel7a ist am laufen. Neue Apps gelernt, #pushservice auf #sunup bedient neben #fosswarn auch den #telegram Fork #forkgram. Einige Dienste nutze ich nur noch im Browser, da die App´s nicht ohne #PlayService laufen. Aber das passt schon.
Zwei Dinge bekomme ich nicht hin. Im #fdroid fehlt mir ein funktionierender #wakeonlan Client. #AwakeOnLanMobile tut es nicht. Und #Screencast #screenmirror zum TV geht scheinbar nicht ohne #Playservice. Hat da jemand Ideen? Vorschlag?

Firefox for Android looks great now that the UI has been migrated to Material 3.

Also, the secret settings menu now has toggles for isolated content proccesses (at least in IronFox), meaning that the browser should offer proper site isolation when they are enabled.

Btw, both IronFox and Fennec are fully functional even without Google Play Services, including FIDO2 and UnifiedPush support.
If you need push notifications, you can use Sunup to connect to Mozilla's push server and use it as a UnifiedPush distributor for both Firefox forks and other compatible apps.
Both IronFox and Sunup are available in Accrescent and some F-Droid repos.

For push notifications, we recommend #SunUp. The #Holos beta-14 version fixes an issue we had with the #UnifiedPush library. Remember to re-register if you're not receiving push notifications.

Das letzte mal als ich versucht habe #NINA auf #GrapheneOS ohne Google Play Services zum Laufen zu bringen, habe ich es leider nicht hinbekommen (ist aber schon ein paar Jahre her). Wenn jemand passend zum #did #dut nach Alternativen sucht: #fosswarn

Mit FOSSwarn bekommt ihr offizielle Warnmeldungen für eure Orte direkt aufs Handy. Push-Benachrichtigungen funktionieren ebenfalls zuverlässig über UnifiedPush, ich nutze dazu die App #Sunup

Just found #FOSSWarn by @Nucleus while browsing #fdroid which looks to be a generic, international replacement for country-specific warn apps like #NINA.

Couldn't try it further than setup yet unfortunately due to an incompatibility with the #sunup #webpush distributor.
What I saw w.r.t. UX so far was mighty impressive though. Very well done!

#UnifiedPush funktioniert bei mir in der aktuellen Version von Molly weder mit #ntfy, #SunUp oder #NextPush. Bin gerade ratlos. Beobachtet das noch jemand? Push-Nachrichten kommen nach der Einrichtung eine Zeit lang an - nach einer Weile (paar Stunden/halber Tag) dann nicht mehr.

Benutze #Pachli in Kombination mit #Sunup und hatte bisher keine Probleme mit den Benachrichtigungen. Aber jetzt bekomme ich seit 1 oder 2 Tagen keine Benachrichtigungen mehr. 🤔

Just tried #davpush 0.0.3 for #nextcloud that was recently packaged for #NixOS and it works with #WebPush (#Sunup)!

The #NixOS side was trivial: a one-word change. Love it.

The #DAVx5 side didn't work at all at first but it didn't even sync local changes to the server which it is independent of server-side push.

After I added another calendar and refreshed the CalDav lists, everything magically started working.

Any change I do on any side appears on the other within a few seconds. Very nice!

Recently I made a Matrix account and got Element X on Android. It said I needed a Push Provider.... So I chose Sunup. It worked without a hitch, but little did I know... It fixed the fact I never got any of my #Tusky / #Mastodon notifications!! It also required a Push Provider! So happy I can get my Mastodon notifications now. 😅😅 I always thought it was just an issue with Android battery optimization and background processes. #dontkillmyapp #androidapps #ElementXAndroid #elementx #matrix #sunup

Tengo las notificaciones con #Sunup, y tengo Sunup sin restricciones de batería, con permisos, etc... Pero normalmente siguen sin llegarme notificaciones 😭
