Ich probiere ja immer wie andere Apps für #Mastodon auf Android aus. Die offizielle App ist in meinen Augen sehr einfach gestrickt, nur die nötigsten Funktionen. Eine zeitlang hatte ich Tusky im Eiksatz und wie weiß gar nicht mehr, warum ich danach doch wieder gewechselt bin. Kann man da eigentlich eine föderierte Timeline sehen? 🤔
Fedilab hat mich da schon etwas mehr begeistert, auch durch den Funktionsumfang. Was mich allerdings stört, ist der extreme Unterschied in den Schriftgrößen. Entweder stellt man die Schrift größer und dann springt einem der Text aber aus dem Display bei der Einzelansicht von Post's oder die Übersicht ist dann sehr klein. Vielleicht liegt es auch an meinem Alter und das die Augen nicht unbedingt besser werden 😂
Aktuell nutze ich nun Moshidon. Die Schriftgröße passt für mich und ich kann auch auf externen Servern stöbern, was zwar auch bei Fedilab funktioniert, aber da haben wir das erwähnte Problem mit der Schriftgröße.

Okay, I have a question that I'd been putting off for literal years.

For most of my life I have exclusively been using #degoogled #Android variants (#LineageOS and #crDroid).

At some point ages ago, Google broke notifications for Android phones without Google Play services. Or something, I'm not sure.

Back then, I just ignored the issue. I remember reading at the time that supposedly you could fix it somehow by hosting your own notification server or whatever, but then this sounded way too complicated and sketchy to me, so I decided to just wait to see if the community comes out with an easy fix.

But now it's 2026 and only a select few of my apps actually send notifications: the standard calendar, Tutamail, KDE Connect and some weather apps. Most other apps, including ones I really want notifications for, don't get through: #ElementX, my bank's app, #Moshidon and so many others.

It's getting on my nerves!

Can anyone give me a pointer as to how all this works these days? I missed out on this entire topic and now it looks daunting.

Pachli looks like it's going to be an improvement over Moshidon. Once we got quotes toots hard to go back to not having them.

Pero si tienes pestañas aisladas o dos navegadores distintos puedes iniciar sesión en ambas cuentas a la vez.

Ahora, no puedes interactuar con una publicación desde una cuenta con el perfil de la otra, p. ej. impulsar o usar el marcador de la otra cuenta desde la cuenta con la que estás viendo esa publicación; cosa que sí permiten las aplicaciones o algunas, como #Moshidon

I wonder why nobody ever talks about #Moshidon when it comes to #Android apps for #Mastodon . I have just discovered it while searching for a replacement for the official #MastodonApp after the last update unnecessarily removed the ability to access bookmarks and favourites. Why did they even do that? Also, the official app had already shortened the search history to far too few entries for my taste a while ago, and Moshidon gave me back my huge search history.

I don't know what the official app is trying to achieve with removing functionality. It's always been a minimalistic client, but why the short search history when you can just delete your history if it gets too long for your taste? Why no more bookmarks and favourites? I don't understand the motivation behind those changes.

Taking away my 200 or so most recent searches also took a lot of convenience. I hope Moshidon keeps the long history forever, now I need to populate it.

La app común de Mastodon es la más limitada, el tusky te da un nivel como mensajes privados y demás pero carece en la opción de citar, pachil y moshidon tienen todo lo que puedes desear pero carecen a la hora de notificarte, las notificaciones en algunos casos solo llegan cuando abres la app, la ventaja es que tienen el feed federado el cual te puedes enterar de todo lo que publican en el #fedeverso en ese momento en todos los idiomas a toda hora.
Por lo tanto me quedo con tusky que es un poco más avanzado que la app normal de #mastodon , pero más estable a las otras dos.

@Vorinstanz Habe mir ausgehend von Deinem ursprünglichen Post alle (und noch mehr) Alternativen angeschaut und bin auch bei #Moshidon gelandet. Spiele und teste gerade mit #Graphene.

Yeah, I'm back on #fedilab for now, as #Moshidon doesn't support uploading #AVIF, which I use quite a lot to keep storage/bandwidth/costs down.

Trying out #Moshidon because #Tusky has a weird bug where it gets very jumpy when I'm trying to scroll notifications.

Probably not an easily reproducible bug; fetching my notifications has got to be something like an algorithmic "Category 55 Emergency Doomsday Crisis" 😂

В очередной раз переехал. В #MastodonSocial зачем-то отключили живую ленту. Долгое время было лень возиться с переездом. Но в итоге все-таки созрел. Скучновато без других серверов.

В #moshidon почему-то исчезает кнопка перевода при подключении #VivaldiSocial В #tokodon ее тоже нет. Но там я не подключался с других серверов - возможно, ее в принципе не существует. А в moshidon переводы не поддерживает именно #Vivaldi Может, кто-нибудь в курсе, как исправить?

Checking mastodon client #Pachli again while I am waiting for #Moshidon to be updated.

I like it but the lack of #MaterialYou app colors and theming options is a huge bummer (same in #Tusky). 🫤 Pretty much the only app in my daily arsenal of #Android apps which don't support it.

Buenos días. Una cosa muy peligrosa de @moshidon, el cliente que uso para el fedi, es que, si bloqueas a un user, te sale un mensaje o diálogo previo antes de la acción. Pero si bloqueas un dominio o instancia, lo hace del tirón. Y las dos opciones de bloqueo están una al lado de la otra en la interfaz.

Ayer, queriendo bloquear a un user de .social, bloqueé toda la instancia sin querer. Aunque lo desbloqueé al instante, la metedura de pata tuvo como consecuencia que he dejado de seguir a varios centenares de usuaries que me toca ahora recuperar como buenamente pueda

So 12 hours with #IodeOS maybe a bit early for feedback. But I'm thrilled. Everything is running. Unlike #eOS I have Android 15 and #seedvault is running. I had to set up a #ntfy server (hello #uberspace) so #moshidon (#fdroid) pushes, but that's not bad.
I know there are even freer #androids out there, but for me it's a mix of privacy, simplicity and a whole lot of good feeling.
Also important: it has to run on the #fairphone5, because I specifically bought it for sustainability.

What client do you use to browse #akkoma on #android ?

I prefer native apps as they are faster and use less data. My experience so far:

#moshidon (Using this app currently) Lightweight, fast and beautiful. Issues with emoji reactions and notifications. Development seems to be stalled.

#pachli Actively developed and really good. Some issues like scrolling of posts when you open the timeline and emoji reactions.

#fedilab Lots of features. But I am not a fan of its looks and there are no updates since a year.

#husky Really good akkoma support.

#phanpy (web) Beautiful and minimalistic. Cannot schedule posts

#elk (web) Beautiful but cannot login.

#mangane (web) Default and minimal web UI for my instance. Can’t figure out a way to browse lists.

Ce que j'aime bien chez #Tusky :
-la sobriété, les raccourcis # et @,
- l'historique des modifications sur les publications (facile à consulter).

Ce que j'aime bien chez #MoshidonApp :
- la traduction avec #LibreTranslate,
- l'ergonomie + switch avec Accueil-Local-Fédéré,
- les suggestions dans "Search".

Mais crash lors de l'écriture.

J'ai de drôle de chose qui se passe avec #Moshidon depuis que je l'ai installé.

Jusqu'à présente j'ai toujours utilisé @Tusky sur #Android. Avec #HelloQuitteX et mon envie d'accéder à du contenu + international je l'ai ajouter.

Sauf que à plusieurs reprise quand je rédige un message l'appli s'arrête subitement et je perdu tout ce que j'ai écris ... Du coup ça me freine un peu à l'adopter.

Happy I Love Free Software Day! 💕

Unfortunately, this year I could not join nor organize any in-person celebration, BUT of course I want to share my gratitude to the many, countless #FreeSoftware services I don’t merely use, but actually depend on.

Last year, I decided to focus only on #YunoHost, because it would have been crazy to list all the projects I use and I love.

This time, even if I will most certainly forget someone, I am challenging myself to mention all the #LibreSoftware my life is powered by.

• @Mastodon, for also maintaining a feature-packed experimental fork (#GlitchSoc), that is what Pan runs
• #Tuba and #Moshidon, for being the most beautiful and awesome #Mastodon clients ever
• #Firefox, for still remaining the best possible #browser choice, despite #Mozilla’s governance messiness
• @openstreetmap, for allowing us to find the right path, both literally and metaphorically!
• @organicmaps, for being the simplest, cleanest, yet feature-rich #OSM client and navigation app
• @protonvpn, for making me browse safely from/to anywhere in the planet and @protonprivacy #ProtonMail, for hosting my email, despite the latest alarming political statements…
• @libreoffice, for allowing me to draft documents with ease, the last of which was my #CV
• #LanguageTool, for preventing me from making embarassing spelling mistakes
• @photoprism, for safely storing and indexing all my photographic memories, on Aby, and for providing stellar and friendly support too!
• #Actual, for moderating the very likely risk of ending up completely broke, since it forces me to manage my finances consciously and coherently
• @readeck, for storing and sorting ALL my varied and overwhelming inputs
• @nextcloud, for storing and synchronizing my data, for its #calendar, its #tasks, and all its awesome apps
• #Rustdesk, for preventing my friends and family members from going crazy, by allowing me to remotely connect to their devices and directly address the issues they have
• #Listmonk, for sending out my newsletter
• @eleventy, for powering all the websites I maintain, above all the virtual representation of my mind, and for being the only reason why I resist and try to continue learning #JavaScript
• @forgejo, for giving us a chance to truly control and collectively develop the sources of our software, but most importantly @Codeberg, for RESISTING, RESISTING, RESISTING, despite the hatred and attacks nazi assholes throw at them
• @musicbrainz for keeping music knowledge open and free, and @ListenBrainz for scrobbling the crazy music I listen to
• The @fsfe, for promoting this celebration and fighting the good fight!
