I am part of the ieji.de instance using a forked android app called Moshidon to access it.
You may belong to another such instance using a different app to access it.
Our instances can communicate with each other, but others may not based on their their scope and level of privacy.

@moshidon is a great app, ans still my daily driver for posting here.
One little niggle though, it refuses to save drafts that are longer than 500 characters. Sometimes the reason I want to save a draft is I don't have time right then to trim it down to a postable length, or break it into postable chunks, and I want to do it later.
Would it be possible to get it to save drafts regardless of character count?

Ich probiere ja immer wie andere Apps für #Mastodon auf Android aus. Die offizielle App ist in meinen Augen sehr einfach gestrickt, nur die nötigsten Funktionen. Eine zeitlang hatte ich Tusky im Eiksatz und wie weiß gar nicht mehr, warum ich danach doch wieder gewechselt bin. Kann man da eigentlich eine föderierte Timeline sehen? 🤔
Fedilab hat mich da schon etwas mehr begeistert, auch durch den Funktionsumfang. Was mich allerdings stört, ist der extreme Unterschied in den Schriftgrößen. Entweder stellt man die Schrift größer und dann springt einem der Text aber aus dem Display bei der Einzelansicht von Post's oder die Übersicht ist dann sehr klein. Vielleicht liegt es auch an meinem Alter und das die Augen nicht unbedingt besser werden 😂
Aktuell nutze ich nun Moshidon. Die Schriftgröße passt für mich und ich kann auch auf externen Servern stöbern, was zwar auch bei Fedilab funktioniert, aber da haben wir das erwähnte Problem mit der Schriftgröße. -

In case you need another reason for alt text, my "translate from German" button on #Moshidon also translated the alt text, which means I got to read the screenshot that is just text in a language I don't know. Thanks for the good alt text!

A user recently noticed there was a duplicated #Moshidon entry in @fdroidorg using the same naming and branding, but under a different developer and app id.
If you want to download Moshidon from the f-droid store, please download it at this link: https://f-droid.org/en_US/packages/org.joinmastodon.android.moshinda/
It's the only official way to download Moshidon from f-droid, so please don't be confused.

Ho appena trovato su F-Droid un bel client modificato della app ufficiale di Mastodon. Si chiama @moshidon
La cosa che apprezzo di più è la possibilità di leggere le timeline locali di altri server, cioè, la funzionalità che imho davo per scontata quando mi sono approciato al concetto di federazione e decentralizzazione. Va bene non essere tutti sullo stesso server, ma voglio avere il piacere di "entrare in casa degli altri"! -

I have a question.
My GoToSocial instance's custom emoji are not displaying in the custom emoji selection in Moshidon.
They do display just fine when I type them out (e. g.
:heart:), but since I don't remember all emoji codes off the top of my head, I'd like them to appear in the emoji selector.Is this an issue on the @moshidon or on the @gotosocial end?

Back then, I just ignored the issue. I remember reading at the time that supposedly you could fix it somehow by hosting your own notification server or whatever, but then this sounded way too complicated and sketchy to me, so I decided to just wait to see if the community comes out with an easy fix.
But now it's 2026 and only a select few of my apps actually send notifications: the standard calendar, Tutamail, KDE Connect and some weather apps. Most other apps, including ones I really want notifications for, don't get through: #ElementX, my bank's app, #Moshidon and so many others.
It's getting on my nerves!
Can anyone give me a pointer as to how all this works these days? I missed out on this entire topic and now it looks daunting.

Pachli looks like it's going to be an improvement over Moshidon. Once we got quotes toots hard to go back to not having them.

Going back to 2.11.9+fork.110.moshinda-nightly+@2026-05-17 (110) works without the immediate crash. 🤔

The Play Store version of #moshidon also seems to have given up on notifications too. -
Just reinstalled the latest #moshidon nightly, which was working a few days ago albeit with no notifications. Now it won't even open, closes as soon as you tap the icon.

Can y'all see if, on the nightly, reloading timelines other than the home one causes it to load older posts, somehow. Can y'all confirm or deny this?

@moshidon Very long posts with content warnings expand automatically (not rolled up) if showing sensitive content is enabled in the settings.
Desired behavior: posts with content warnings are still rolled up if they are long and rolling up is enabled in the settings even when auto showing content with warnings is also enabled.
