Hm, könnte ich nicht auch ein Foto machen und falls gewünscht, die Endung in PDF ändern?

Wollte ich auch vorschlagen, tut einfach total gut, was es soll

  4. Used #FairScan earlier this week, and it's a wonderful app. Does one thing only and does it well. No tracking, no ads. Recommend.

  5. #FairScan a "respectful app" prioritizes users over profit—no dark patterns, minimal tracking, clear permissions and transparent business model. Users should check publisher, permissions, trackers and open‑source status. Read more: fairscan.org/blog/a-respectful 🔍📱 #RespectfulApps #FairTech

  10. FairScan 1.15 and 1.16 improve automatic document detection and edge detection.

These updates make the automatic cropping more reliable across different kinds of documents.

I also wrote a short post about how FairScan turns a detected document into a clean quadrilateral, and why this step is trickier than it looks:

  11. FairScan 1.14.0 improves brightness handling for color documents, with more consistent results and fewer over-bright or under-exposed scans.

I also published a blog post about a closely related question:
    "What's a good scan?"

  12. Fairscan + PaperlessNGX (app & server) will soon become my life savers!

kudos to both @pynicolas and the team behind Paperless development! You're doing an amazing job!

  13. The latest releases of #FairScan have a nice feature to facilitate its ethical data-driven software development approach: there is now a built-in convenience action in the About dialog to allow you to email the raw photo of the latest scan to @pynicolas if you encounter examples of situations that cause the autodetection heuristics to fail. I've sent them a few samples today.

  14. FairScan had a few releases over the past weeks.

1.12.0 focused on the camera screen experience:
    - smoother document detection
    - tap-to-focus
    - flashlight state preserved

A quick 1.12.1 bugfix followed and added a Turkish translation.

    1.13.0 improves the export screen:
    - clearer layout and better feedback
    - more reliable export handling
It also streamlines the scanning flow.

#FairScan is available on #FDroid and the Play Store.

  15. Proprio in questi giorni ho avuto bisogno di scannerizzare dei documenti con il telefono e la mia ricerca su #fdroid mi ha portato su #FairScan
Credo sia un'applicazione utile e molto interessante

  16. FairScan 1.11.0 is out.

    It includes:
    - a new setting to control export quality
    - a new way to report issues with the last captured image

I've also published a short post about the second point: how FairScan can be improved by letting users choose to share scans that don't look good.

  18. New blog post: FairScan can now be called from other apps

FairScan now exposes a simple intent so other Android apps can trigger a scan-to-PDF flow.

Users of ODKCollect and KoboCollect apps can already use it.

  19. Hello Mastodon 👋

I'm an independent software engineer working on FairScan, an open source document scanner for Android.

I write occasionally about both the human and technical sides of the project, including image processing, datasets, and what "respectful software" can mean in practice. I try to keep these posts short and readable, focusing on the problems I face and how I approach them.

  20. I couldn't find a good #floss #scanning app for years. But in just two months, @fdroidorg gained two such apps: #FairScan (incredibly user friendly) and #MakeACopy (if you need #OCR, and also good). 😃

  23. For years I have been hoping for a FLOSS alternative to "Adobe Scan", the Android app to scan receipts (essentially) with automatic cropping + deskewing + cleanups + OCR, and there was nothing similar I could find in F-Droid… until three months ago, where #FairScan just materialized out of the blue, and I discovered it today: fairscan.org

Your turn, #LinuxMobile, time to make #GNOME's "Simple Scan" application "camera-ready" 😉 gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/simple-
