@onni In der Tat, die App funktioniert ziemlich gut. Und hat ein paar schöne Details in der Bedienung, wie die Lupe bei manueller Korrektur.👍 Und tut was sie soll und nicht mehr!

(Es gab sowas mal auf dem iPad. Funktionierte. Fertig. Dann eines Tages fing das Teil an alles automatisch machen zu wollen und ich hab nicht gefunden wie man Seiten wieder löscht und es wollte Seiten immer in irgendeiner zufälligen Orientierung ins PDF packen. Absolut lächerlich.🤣 )

#FairScan is simply an amazing piece of software. It's an Android app for turning photos of documents into PDF files.

As somemany without a dedicated scanner and frequently on the go, it's a lifesaver. It genuinely makes really good scans in the overwhelming majority of the times. Its UI is dead simple: has only the bare minimum of necessary buttons. It does its job well and doesn't overstay its welcome: no extra menus to click through, no pop-ups, no notifications. You open the app, do a photo, save the scan.

It's not flashy, but it is nonetheless exciting. It is a feat of a lot of effort and care to reduce friction so much.

FairScan 1.15 and 1.16 improve automatic document detection and edge detection.

These updates make the automatic cropping more reliable across different kinds of documents.

The latest releases of #FairScan have a nice feature to facilitate its ethical data-driven software development approach: there is now a built-in convenience action in the About dialog to allow you to email the raw photo of the latest scan to @pynicolas if you encounter examples of situations that cause the autodetection heuristics to fail. I've sent them a few samples today.

FairScan had a few releases over the past weeks.

1.12.0 focused on the camera screen experience:
- smoother document detection
- tap-to-focus
- flashlight state preserved

A quick 1.12.1 bugfix followed and added a Turkish translation.

1.13.0 improves the export screen:
- clearer layout and better feedback
- more reliable export handling
It also streamlines the scanning flow.
