  1. Just enjoyed a retro Commodore 64 text adventure game entry in this year's Spring Thing Festival of interactive fiction games. Recommended for old timers like me, especially if, again like me, you were a Commodore 64 owner back in the day! springthing.net/2026/play.html #SpringThing #InteractiveFiction #Game #RetroComputing #C64

  2. Are you sitting on a brand new, finished, and unreleased interactive fiction project that you're itching to share with the world?

It might prove beneficial to participate in The 2026 Spring Thing Festival of Interactive Fiction then!

  3. Drawing up my initial target list of games to play from the 2025 Spring Thing Festival of Interactive Fiction. Have noted down 20 games for starters, a mix of parser and choice based. May well not get through them all - I am very ill. But will play and review all I can. #SpringThing #interactiveFiction #game #IndieGame

  4. #InteractiveFiction Spring Thing is available now!

  5. This year's Spring Thing Festival of Interactive Fiction is open for judging. There are 34 new games entered this year, a mix of choice, parser and more. All entries are well worth checking out. The festival runs until 9th May. springthing.net/2025/play.html #interactiveFiction #SpringThing #game #games #IndieGame

  6. Looking forward to the Spring Thing interactive fiction festival which will be running very soon. Good luck to all the entrants! I'm looking forward to hopefully trying as many of the games as possible. Ditto for IFComp in the autumn - I've postponed my next entry to 2026. springthing.net/2025/ #SpringThing #interactiveFiction #IndieGames #Games #IFComp

  7. When I entered my #interactivefiction game in the 2024 #SpringThing festival I had no idea that people would play it so much. The reviews so far have been very kind.

And check out this fan-art that a player sent me.

  8. Reminder for fans of #interactiveFiction including choice based pieces and old style #textAdventure games that the #SpringThing annual festival for interactive fiction is running at the moment, with 32 new games to play. Huge range. All free to play. Hugely imaginative stuff. springthing.net/2024/play.html #IndieGames #ComputerGames #TextGames #RetroGaming

  9. I was reluctant to post about this game in public because I was afraid it was totally broken lol. But it seems to have gotten popular on twitter, so it can't be *that* bad.

Anyway, this is the Social Democracy Game, a game where you play as the Social Democratic Party of Germany between 1928 and 1933, and try to stop the rise of Hitler. Made for Spring Thing 2024.

  10. I've written a post about learning Inform 7, among other things. I share my messy code in hopes of encouraging non-programmers to try Inform 7 if it interests them.

  11. My Inform 7 game, Repeat the Ending, received a Best in Show in this year’s Spring Thing. Wild! When I upload the post-festival release in a day or two, I’ll post a link.

  13. Finished my last review for the 2023 #SpringThing #interactiveFiction competition. I played 20 of the 26 game entries, a wonderful mix of traditional #parser #textAdventure #games and choice based #Twine pieces and others. Thanks all! 14. Just reviewed my 10th game of the #SpringThing 2023 #interactiveFiction game competition. Hope to get through a fair few more before the comp ends. I'm posting my reviews at intfiction.org/t/viv-dunstan-s on the intFiction forum. Other reviewers are posting theirs too, and we have a huge spreadsheet collecting links to lots of reviews. Anyway check out the competition if you like IF or #textAdventure games. There's a lovely variety of styles, interfaces and genres. #IndieGames #GameDev #CreativeWriting

  15. I did a short Q&A with Amanda Walker about my I7 game "Repeat the Ending" over at intfic. Very happy/flattered that she asked. Link below. Interested in playing Spring Thing games or nominating them for ribbons? Follow the links in the reply. 🧵

  16. Do also check out the rest of the #SpringThing entries here: springthing.net/2023/play.html

It's a truly excellent #InteractiveFiction event so if you don't at least take a glance then you're missing out.

  17. It's a bit weird being #awake for some hours in day. Last week I had two days #sleeping #neuro #CerebralVasculitis for 16.5 and 15 hours (total asleep/unconscious time, not just lying down resting). I'm still sleeping a lot, e.g. yesterday 12 hours total. But some awake time in the middle. I've been playing and reviewing more #SpringThing #InteractiveFiction games. Also hope to get back to #academic #paper #writing, though need to be more awake for that. Also emails to reply to. #ChronicIllness
