🔴 Mein alter Brother Multifunktions-Drucker (MFC-J825DW) wollte nicht unter folgenden Distributionen funktionieren (Scanner + Drucker)

❌ #OpensuseOS
❌ #CachyOS
❌ #ManjaroOS
❌ #SolusOS

Dann habe ich mal die #Debian Distributionen ausprobiert.

✅ #mxlinux
✅ #linuxmint lmde7

Da konnte ich die offiziellen deb-Treiber von Brother reibungslos installieren 👍

🍁 Schade, eigentlich wollte ich eine Rolling Release Distribution mit funktionierenden Scanner und Drucker den ich halt noch besitze, gerne einmal nutzen 🤷‍♂️

🏅 Läuft, die Installation dauerd zwar länger (als bei #cachyOS , #ManjaroOS oder #SolusOs) dafür sind aber alles Updates gleich mit dabei, also sofort nach Neustart ein modernes, sicheres Linux 👍

➡️ Toll, die Gasterweiterung ist auch gleich automatisch aktiv, ich kann sofort das Vollbild nutzen, das finde ich Klasse 👍 (bei Manjaro übrigens auch)

➡️ Jetzt der Knackpunkt, mein etwas in die Jahre gekommende Netzwerkdrucker mit Scan-Funktion vom Typ Brother MFC-J825DW.

Found out recently that in optimus nvidia laptops you can set env variables to load software in the discrete graphics card. Took me too long, and this makes the battery life be much more efficient. #solusos

Took a couple #Linux distros out for a spin today on my Lenovo x1 Carbon laptop. #EndeavourOS #SolusOS #MXLinux #NixOS to drop names.

It’s been a loooooong time since I looked at desktop environments as well. #FractionalScaling seems to be an issue still for most DEs. #HIDPI is life, get with it #LXQT & #XFCE. Also not impressed with the direction of #KDEplasma or #Gnome to be honest. #Budgie is great, and I enjoy seeing it get a chance in other distributions too.

#Fedora has been a favorite of mine for a long time, but seeing what #IBM has done with limiting #RedHat after they gutted #CentOS removes my ability to support them anymore.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Intriguing developments at #solusos, the #linux #distro I used to run on one of the laptops I used for daily work. I loved the budgie gui.
I left it when I saw it being mistreated by, hmmm by whom...

Sadly, I will be removing #Solusos from a laptop in the near future. I hope that there is some news update on the project soon! I'm still not sure what I will use instead.
