  5. Serpent OS Renamed to AerynOS Amid Funding Struggles

Before its first stable release, Serpent OS has been renamed AerynOS. Founder Ikey Doherty cites the need for a more positive identity. However, financial troubles continue to slow development. Doherty, known for Solus OS, has faced similar challenges in the past. The transition to AerynOS is set for March 17, 2025—ironically, St. Patrick’s Day, known for driving out snakes.

  7. @anji #nixos is really great! I just moved to a location where data is slow and limited.

#Nix rebuilds all child derivations when a dependency updates. So if there's an update for tiny packages like libc you pretty much have to download 2-6 GB and rebuild your whole system.

I do like transparency and making quick changes in #arch . I'm considering #serpentos . It seems like a nice middle ground.

  8. Remember how less than a week ago we were all like "hey we're gonna do offline rollbacks" and folks were all "you're *exploring* ...." :P

    Hey look, offline rollbacks!
