  6. Serpent OS Renamed to AerynOS Amid Funding Struggles

Before its first stable release, Serpent OS has been renamed AerynOS. Founder Ikey Doherty cites the need for a more positive identity. However, financial troubles continue to slow development. Doherty, known for Solus OS, has faced similar challenges in the past. The transition to AerynOS is set for March 17, 2025—ironically, St. Patrick’s Day, known for driving out snakes.

  7. @anji #nixos is really great! I just moved to a location where data is slow and limited.

#Nix rebuilds all child derivations when a dependency updates. So if there's an update for tiny packages like libc you pretty much have to download 2-6 GB and rebuild your whole system.

I do like transparency and making quick changes in #arch . I'm considering #serpentos . It seems like a nice middle ground.

  11. A Wagler's Pit Viper (Tropidolaemus wagleri), immature female, spotted on a tree near the walking path at Upper Seletar Reservoir Park, Singapore, on 15 Sept. 2019. It is a venomous snake but can be observed from a safe distance.

  13. You cannot predict what you'll seen on a nature walk. This was the case during a guided walk at Windsor Nature Park, Singapore on 11 Nov 2018.

This Gold-ringed Cat Snake (Boiga dendrophila) was spotted resting near the walking path. It hunts at night so it was not active during the day but care was still needed as it is a venomous species.
