@davidallan Years ago, I found The Sound of Sleat: A Painter’s Life by Jon Schueler and fell in love—not just with the place, but with the title and the idea it could have been the sound of 'sleet'. The book stayed in my studio for years. I’d hoped to visit Sleat with my husband, but he always said we’d go when he retired—knowing I’d carry on painting until I dropped. Then came Alzheimer’s. I cared for him until his death, and we never made the trip.

Years later, I finally went with a friend. As I placed the book on a rock for a photo, something stirred in the water—seals, watching me. I looked back to my friend, but she had already seen. We stood in silent awe on that empty beach, sharing a moment of pure magic. #Mastodon #Fediverse #Sleat
