A shout out to Luke Horwell (lah7) and his #sims2 mod for changing display size. It's written in current #Python (3.13) and the how to use and develop on Windows instructions were spot on. The tool is easy to use.
Little known fact: Sims2 is so old, it's even older than Python. (Narrator: it is not, but it is old.)
My daughter learned most of her Windows hacking through Sims modding, and now it's expanding to Python and github. Pretty cool.

Now I think about this again... Even in #Sims2 they had something like this. When person was lonely, big furry-style humanoid rabbit appeared near them and only that person could see it...

Had some fun in #Sims2. I almost forgot about option to import own #pictures and let characters paint them.
I chose some of my works, these good looking as thumbnails, so they could be possibly intelligible in game scale. When I tested, about half of them worked as expected, the rest was not available. I am not sure what was the factor. Too many colour shades? File size?
My drawings are png files, mostly below 1000 px in any dimension. Most of them weight less than 1 MB. I plan to make more experiments with it. -

Going through old stuff and these are what I believe are the oldest #sims2 screenshots I have taken. I'm going to say these were around Christmas 2006.
Funny story, I got the Sims 2 Holiday Edition for my birthday in Nov 2006 (I think) and because the Compaq we had was pure garbo.
I had to wait for a time until Christmas 2006 when I got a newer Dell Inspiron laptop (Ran the game pretty good until I loaded it with expansions).
Of course these screens are extra crunchy since there are the snapshots and not the higher resolution screenshots.

Instead of giving EA money for the Legacy collection. I went with an alternative from r/sims2help.
Created the test household of Adam Genasis. A grouchy fellow who is working his way up the Intelligence Career, learning all he can from books and is pretty compatible with the crazy cat lady.

Okay, let's see if the Sims 2 update actually fixed the things.
Apparently, it won't fix any existing save files so it is time for a new family, the old one is dead to me. Literally, coz they couldn't eat and therefore starved.

With Sims 2 being a clusterfuck on re-release (colour me shocked) i'm dipping into Sims 3 which I never really got into at the time.
Sims 1 was fun at the time, but the difficulty now is too chaotic.
Sims 4 LOOKS very lovely, the graphics are a delight, the gameplay is somehow very empty indeed. I've spent hundreds on packs, expansions, kits etc trying to get a GAME out of it, and for whatever reason it's just not there.
Sims 3... I don't know what my issue is. It looks fine, I enjoy the open world where you can bop around the town without loading screens, I like the game play broadly it's just not grabbing me.
Sims 2, which is old and ugly and clunky and looks extra bad on modern PCs, still has the best actual game play. I look forward to a patch so I can play with it again. I do have the freebie one, but it's a pain in the tits to get it to run.

And there's my game breaking bug in Sims 2, I was starting to feel left out!
Cooked food vanishes, so my sims are all starving to death. -
It is now working, and it is the classic Sims 2 experience in that Delilah made a big serve of spaghetti and then put it on the floor for her family and guests to scrabble around on the carpet to get.

When The Sims and The Sims 2 were re-released on Steam, the store page incorrectly said it included Denuvo. They fixed the page, but it's too late; a lot of people still think it has Denuvo and refuse to buy it. EA shot themselves in the foot big-time.
