Die #SightCity-Messe hat mich vor allem an eins erinnert: Viele Hilfsmittel für Behinderte lösen kein Problem, sondern helfen Menschen dabei, damit zu leben. Das kann schon sinnvoll sein, aber manchmal sollten wir uns auch fragen, warum das Problem überhaupt existiert und wie wir es wieder loswerden können. Für solche Systemfragen brauchen wir eine Gegenmacht.

Imagine du gehst als fucking sehende Person auf die fucking #SightCity wo es vor Behindis nur so wimmelt um danach einen LinkedIn-Post zu machen, wie erfüllend das alles gewesen ist und wie toll deine Begegnungen da waren, nur um dann mit einer Ausnahme AUSSCHLIESSLICH andere Sehende damit zu taggen und Fotos zu posten?

Irgendwas ist seit meinem Besuch auf der #SightCity anders in der Welt. gibt es eine neue Initiative für Freundlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft?

Jetzt hat mir gerade der Mitarbeiter im Bordbistro meinen Kaffee spendiert und seine Kollegin hat ihn mir an den Platz getragen (also den Kaffee, nicht den Kollegen 😉)…

Merkt Ihr Sowas auch? Oder liegt es an mir, und ich sehe besonders hilfebedürftig aus…?😉

Für Annette beginnt gleich der 2. Tag auf der #SightCity. Unterdessen starte ich gleich in die Tagung des Brailleschrift-Komitees www.bskdl.org/ — inzwischen treffen wir uns immer ab dem 3. Messetag in einem Hotel gleich beim Frankfurter Hauptbahnhof.

Die #SightCity wird oft zum Anlass genommen, neue Produkte bekanntzugeben. Diesmal z.B.: IndexBraille (Schweden) präsentiert den MonoLite,einen kleinen Brailledrucker (einseitig, Einzelbldtteinzug, grafikfähig), quasi ein Desktop-Embosser; schönes Aluminium-Gehäuse, einstellbare Punktstärke, druckt auch auf Plastik- und Metallfolie.

Seit Jahren gibt es immer wieder "All in one"-Computer (PC und Braillezeile, alles in einem Gehäuse). Soeben hatte ich das "InsideOnePlus" unter den Fingern: 32 Braille-Zellen, darin steckt ein PC mit 16 GB RAM, bis zu 1 TB SSD, Windows 11 — #SightCity https://insidevision.fr/pdf/Fiche_Produit_Braille_Tablette_Tactile_insideONE_Plus_EN_02.pdf

Eine ganz überraschende Begegnung hier auf der"#SightCity : eine ukrainische Besuchergruppe, direkt aus Kyjiw; mit Bus nach Moldau und dann mit dem Flugzeug hierher, um sich über Neuigkeiten zu informieren. Und sie sagten: "Na klar kehren wir nach Kyjiw zurück — durchhalten, Lebensmut verbreiten!"

Gleiches Stichwort (Weiterentwicklungen im Detail), das gilt auch für die Focus 640 der Vispero Group; unter den Fingern gehabt am Stand von Optelec auf der #SightCity mit @Clio09

Am Stand von F.H. Papenmeier gerade die BRAILLEX 40 Flow unter den Fingern gehabt: Evolution statt Revolution, kleine Details verbessert (leisere Navigationsleiste usw.), 32 GB interner Speicher, Notizfunktion. #SightCity

Unser #SightCity Rundgang startet bei Helptech: MyBraille — ein Baukastensystem: Läge und weitere Features wählbar. Interessanter Ansatz (wie beim Autokauf!).

Auf geht's zur #SightCity - geht aber schon mal damit los, dass unser ICE mindestens 15 Minuten zu spät in München los fährt.

Bin dieses Jahr das erste Mal auf der SightCity. Und das als Blinder, ohne Begleitperson.

Fazit Tag 1: unglaublich hilfsbereite Menschen – sowohl auf der Messe als auch in der Stadt. so viele Leute, die sich da ehrenamtlich einbringen. Jede Menge Aussteller. Interessante Vorträge zu spannenden Themen. Ideen, Kontakte, Vernetzung. Vermutlich zu wenig Zeit, um auch nur das Wichtigste zu sehen.

When we arrived at #frankfurt last year to visit #SightCity , we did combine it with a 20km hike and this view was just spectacular. This year we missed Sight city, but we may be able to return next year. And #frankfurt may have places better not to check out, but overall we liked the city very much! #hiking #wandern #blind #inclusion #inklusion

While at #SightCity yesterday, I was introduced to a line of Braille displays called b.note by Eurobraille. Intriguingly, they are powered by a Raspberry Pi, using Debian Linux as their OS. Apparently there's a developer mode, which allows users to connect to it via ssh, and even extend functionality using Python scripts. I'm already in the market for a new display and now very strongly considering getting one of these, especially since I quite liked the keyboard and Braille modules as well.

At #SightCity I saw many devices that I only heard or read of. Now I know that I won't buy the new Victor Reader Stream, I didn't like its design at all. Sense Player has too many bugs and too expensive, so also not an option for me. Let's hope the new Orbit Speak is available sooner than later.

Yesterday at #SightCity I met a Ukrainian man who lost his remaining sight one and a half months ago. One can talk about blind pride, about all the things a blind person can do, but, being blind from birth myself, I have deep empathy towards people like him. I know there are many deaf and deaf-blind people and they live their full life like we do, but whenever I imagine losing my hearing, I shiver in fear.
