Not a good day for my family — meaning Linus — so bare minimum posting.
He’s okay. Just not a good day.
He always comes first. Before me. Before work. Before this.
He has no guile.
He is kind.
He is generous.
He is sweet.
He is silly.
He is empathetic.
He is goofy AF.
He has made me smile everyday since we met.
He comes first.
Always.
There’s no better place to spend a quiet morning than surrounded by the Sanctuary pack. A cozy couch pile-up of gentle snores, soft breathing, and sleepy snuggles, reminding us that peace is found in the simple moments we share together. #Dog #Chihuahua #SeniorDogs

Linus just now. Nearly 17 years old & still a calendar boy. Always my heart.
He asked that you please excuse his mobility apparatuses — he says he’s far prettier without them. It took almost a lifetime for him to see himself as pretty. My assurances finally paid off.

I tried with « Adopting an old dog »:
The shelter volunteer said, "He's nine years old. Most people want puppies."
I said, "I'll take him."
His name was Gerald. He had one working ear, a suspicious relationship with stairs, and the energy level of a retired Scandinavian ferry captain. He moved through life at exactly the speed he wanted to.
The first week, Gerald discovered my couch and made a unilateral decision about ownership. No negotiation. No transition period. Just Gerald, horizontal, radiating the quiet authority of someone who has genuinely stopped caring what you think.
The vet told me his hips were going. Gerald did not appear to have been informed of this. He still investigated every corner of the backyard with the methodical thoroughness of a Cold War archivist cataloguing documents nobody asked for.
Here's what nine years of living does to a dog: it removes all the noise.
No performing. No anxious tail-chasing. No frantic need to be loved by everyone in the room. Gerald reserved his affection like a limited-edition pressing. If he put his head in your lap, you felt genuinely chosen.
We had two years together.
They were extraordinarily quiet years.
I recommend them completely.

Independence Day is all about freedom, and at Pug Hollow, we believe every senior and special-needs dog deserves the freedom to be loved, cared for, and well-fed until their very last day. Ivy Jean is ready to celebrate, but our pantry shelves are looking a little bare. Please help us continue our mission of love—we deeply need your support for this month’s food drive.

After tossing his bowl and scattering half his kibble everywhere, after eating the rest, and after licking my entire kitchen floor to get every speck of kibble dust he missed, Benson has decided I'm too damn loud on my work calls and has gone into the bathroom to nap for a bit.
It’s late #spring / early #summer
I put out a lot of #BackyardWildlife feed, for Linus’s entertainment & my own.
I’ve posted some videos here including the #NorthernFlicker #Woodpecker mating dance, & a bunch with #squirrels, #chipmunks & #birds getting up close & personal with my super-mellow old man #Linus. Here are a few more.

Linus is loving no-mow May.
Sommerfrisur. 😉
Linus was very funny today. I brought him to my dentist appointment since it was nice out & left him in the car with the windows open.
When I came back he was deep asleep. I unlocked the car, got in, tried to say hello, buckled up, started the car — all without waking him in the slightest. It wasn’t until the car was moving that he woke up & looked at me with a dopey grin.
He’s such a great #dog. 16½ years old & still going strong.
I really love the 'We Rate Dogs" videos on YouTube. This one is extra cute: senior zoomies!
You may be spoiled, but are you "dog bed on the couch" spoiled? #Dog #SpoiledDog #SeniorDogs
A Chihuahua, a chiweenie, and a small mutt all laying on a large plush dog bed on a couch.
It got chilly again here after days of being warm, and the old dogs are not feeling it. #Dogs #Cold #SeniorDogs
A plethora of old dogs sleeping in drifts and piles on top of a heated blanket, and tucked into various blankets and coats.
Anyone in Minnesota willing to open their heart to a sweet little 16 year old Morkie? JayJay here doesn’t need much, she just wants a safe lap, a warm blanket, and love. She’s stuck in a noisy animal shelter right now and desperately needs to be rescued.
🥀 Kokoro: Ein Herz in Winterstarre 🥀
