  1. I was frustrated & to give myself a timeout to cool down & #selfregulate, I watched some short episodes of #NHKworldJapan's Cat's Eye View of #Japan. I'm not even a #cat person, but I mentioned this series in a previous post for those that are.
Cat's Eye View of Japan is a series of short (5min), beautifully shot videos of different places around Japan featuring local resident cats.
Videographer #IwagoMitsuaki shoots an array of sweeping views, close ups with cats & follows them as they patrol their neighbourhood. The only narration is him saying a few words to & about the cats, but otherwise it's all set to charming piano music. It's very #calming & he always features an interesting place you may not have heard of.

It has been too long overdue to #BreakupBigTech - no country allows dangerously addictive narcotics to #selfregulate (correct?) - so, if you can't effectively regulate them, break them up.👇

As we have observed from the #oligopolistic #BigTech in the past two decades, these unbridled #capitalistic endeavors do not lend themselves to #selfregulation for the #publicgood. Likewise, it will be naive to carry-on hoping that #OpenAI and the other #generativeAI players will #selfregulate. That's the #duty of elected #governments and #public #agencies, and the promulgation of effective #AI #regulations is now #longOverdue!

Sarcastically: I'm sure it will be fine if we let A.I. regulate itself. #SelfRegulate

  6. Filed in 2020 under the #Trump admin, the case — US et al v. Google — focuses narrowly on the co’s popular #SearchEngine, alleging #Google used the tool’s 90% #market share to illegally throttle #competition in both #search & search #advertising.
But the #trial has more expansive implications for the internet giant’s #business ambitions. It is part of a broad reappraisal in DC of the common wisdom that the #internet is #open by nature &therefore can #SelfRegulate through #FreeMarket competition.

A year or so ago, #FourCorners exposed similar with newly built #highrise.

The report was called "Cracking Up" and was an hour long.

The #constructionLobby of course, continue to resist any extra regulation and say they can #selfRegulate. Govt seem to bend over for them. Madness.

Prospective #apartment buyers in #Australia are basically #gambling.

    Too little, too late.

We can no longer trust #Google, #Amazon and #Apple and #Microsoft to #selfRegulate. Time to enforce #antiTrust, or start a #boycott movement.

#Australian govt must ban the use of these companies and #dotCom companies in processes where sentivite data is used.
