There are still quite a lot of people who think that whatever an authority, such as the government, says is accepted as true. Argumentum ad verecundiam or appeal to authority. Thankfully I'm not like that, especially since I'm knowledgeable and well educated.

a few days ago a #dutch judge ruled #doorbell #cameras illegal if pointed at #public space. since then someone is paying a lot of #bots & #trolls in nl media to turn this into a "#privacy is going 2 far and impedes our #security". morons. it's not about the cameras themselves, but only about them pointed at public spaces. no one talks about how these doorbells are not owned by they houseowners but by #oligarchs and hostile #governments, who have city-wide networks now for tracking dissidents.

Thursday, July 20, 2023"The last several years have seen a big increase in the number of lawsuits focused on the #ClimateCrisis. Some lawsuits challenge #governments for their support for fossil fuels and for their failure to take #ClimateAction, while other cases target the #FossilFuel companies themselves for knowingly misleading the world about the climate disrupting impacts of burning their products. Some of these cases seek monetary damages, others seek to hold governments accountable to their emissions reduction pledges. As more of these cases get their time in court, how powerful can litigation be in forcing action around the #ClimateEmergency."

Whether it's #CliimateChange , #Canada ’s #international #mining , #BritishColumbia #OldGrowth #forests , #TarSands, #LaBayDuNord - outcome will be the same. There isn’t an area in this, or in most other jurisdictions, that isn’t under some form of environmental attack.
