  1. in high school, a couple friends and i did battle of the bands with #screamtracker , dragging our beige desktop computers onto the stage. maybe i'll write more about that sometime, but for now, i've resurrected the moniker for #ironchefofmusic mastodon.art/@wisteria/1117145

  2. The beginning of »Panic«, Future Crew 1992, PC; Letter Fly-Through with that music by Purple Motion (Screamtracker Module) is aaaaahhhbsolutely unbeaten. #demoscene #retrocomputing #futurecrew #screamtracker

  3. Hey, I'm Raccoon Fink. I write electronic music of all kinds, most recently diving deep into #DungeonSynth.

I've been composing since the early 90s (as RangerRick) working with trackers after finding them on BBSes and eventually the #Demoscene.

Nowadays I work with #Renoise, the great-great-great-grandchild of those ancient trackers of old like #ScreamTracker and #FastTracker. It's an amazing tracker that combines oldschool workflows with modern DAW features.

  8. before i ever learned how resonant filters and harmonics actually worked, my weird intuition to emulate them in #screamtracker (which doesn't have resonant filters) was to mix and fade multiple octaves of the same sinewave melody across separate channels 🙃

  9. Here's another retro throwback from my DOS tracker days.

  10. Oh! I didn't realize that Mastodon knew how to play audio files.

Here's a retro throwback — my entry into the #DemoScene Music Contest 3 back in 1994. It placed 12th out of 65 in the rookie division.

Created in #ScreamTracker with a #GravisUltrasound, using some samples from a 1985 Yamaha PS-6001 FM keyboard.
