Finally getting around to contacting ScotlandsPeople to ask if they could fix their code so it doesn't report "1 records found" in search results rather than "1 record found". That's really poor programming, as hammered into computer science students in my 1st year class 35 years ago at St Andrews! #ScotlandsPeople #Programming

Found Melrose kirk session minutes at ScotlandsPeople include lists of schoolmasters 1768-1854 parish by parish in Presbytery of Chirnside. Whole bunch of Berwickshire places! Just had a peek at new ScotlandsPeople website! Haven't tried it properly yet. But happy I could (1) login, (2) it remembered my credits, (3) it's remembered the records I viewed before - and has a better image viewer now IMHO, and (4) searching seems to work easily, e.g. my test search that threw the last revamp worked this time. Working on another academic journal paper. And spending an alarming amount of time reporting census indexing errors to ScotlandsPeople. Signed up for a two week trial of #TheGenealogist (UK #genealogy focused) website, keen to check some tithe records, but also keen to try the site from a general genealogy search perspective. Sadly I found it very unintuitive to use. Often googling and coming in externally to site that way was more help. It is also relatively poor for Scottish records. My favourite general genealogy website (not counting #ScotlandsPeople which is best for me) is #Ancestry. Find it most intuitive. #FamilyHistory

Just reported yet another technical fault in the new ScotlandsPeople site. Which means that a search that should just find my granddad and his 2 cousins now finds 439,343 results. The names that begin with search for forename “Thomas Cavers” is matching anyone with a forename Thomas. I have been running into all sorts of issues this afternoon. Major sympathies with anyone who needs to use the site for professional genealogical research.

Well ScotlandsPeople came back, but no sign of the 1921 Scottish census. Boo! The website is slightly reincarnated. I'm finding bugs. A general date search narrowed to OPRs wrongly populates date fields in next search form eg 17000101-18540101 instead of 1700-1854. Which is rejected for any new search. Reported. More worryingly the first image I've bought on new site is 30 years wide of the index ref. Have asked for correct image or refund.
