206 years ago today. The Union Chain Bridge over the River Tweed upstream from Berwick-upon-Tweed opened to traffic on 26 July 1820. At the time it was the world's longest iron suspension bridge. More pics and info https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/berwick/unionbridge/index.html

Morning walk.
After a very dry month we had some decent rain - luckily none of us suffer from Sugar Mouse Syndrome. But it was all action - they chased down a dangerous squeaky ball and retrieved it every time it escaped. An we had waters - conveniently the only dug who noticed them was the Collie and he never chases livestock.
The colour of the undergrowth reflects the lack of rain we have had.

A view from the water. We had to be in Dunbar for lunchtime (less said the better) but with 90 minutes to spare we got a swim in at Cove harbour - with a ball. And on the way back managed a short tun over and round Edin’s Hall Broch
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edin%27s_Hall_Broch
So not all bad, a swim, a run and a Broch

A lovely cool evening, so we took ourself along the somewhat gnarly path along the Teviot and back along the old railway line. A very pleasant 8k, ad the dug took the chance for a quick dip in the river half way round.
Mainly tracks with 1k on the connecting road, and no cars or people seen anywhere, just a few deer who kept well out of our way. (t makes for a nice technical bike route as well. Fewest dabs buys the next pint.

The lovely Dawyck Botanic Garden and arboretum, on 60 acres or 24 hectare of land that rises above the River Tweed near Stobo, south-west of Peebles in the Scottish Borders. It is the result of over 300 years of tree collecting. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/peebles/dawyckgarden/index.html

Morning walk
One of them has put a lot of energy into chasing balls and run about double the distance of the other two - guess which one. We had a lot of deer today, at least seven in two different groups. Chai noticed them (and of course counted the livestock, as Colies are wont to do), but the other two were too intent on staring at the ball to pay any attention.

smashing walk in blazing heat, bashing a trail along the route of an ancient border crossing, the Carter Road (https://scotways.com/heritage-path/HP383/). Passed evidence of old industry at Carter Fell Quarry (https://registry.gsg.org.uk/sr/sitedetails.php?id=5879), coal pits on the border and the green ribbon of the road leading up to them. Then a trot across Whitelee Moor to join the path back across Carter Fell to Carter Bar.

Evening run
It has cooled a little so we have been out for 13k, all road and deliciously fast
