I love returning to a dram I haven't had in a while. I'd forgotten just how fruity and delicious this Deanston is. Vanilla, malty sweetness on the nose. Delicious waxy fruitiness on the tongue: peaches, pears, citrusy and finishes with a gentle tingly spice.
A terrible time for those who hate sport, with the Six Nations and the Olympics in full swing. Watching the "Women's Big Air" at the moment, and commentators seem to be talking a different language - I have no idea what they are talking about, but I love their enthusiasm.
Apparently, there's some sporting event in California later, featuring a cast of thousands wearing body armour and motorcycle helmets. But I'm about to watch proper football in a moment, the Scottish Cup, Stenhousemuir and Falkirk

Not #rugbyleague, but #football for a change. With #Hearts and #Hibs going out of the #ScottishCup this weekend, the only #Edinburgh team left in the draw are #Spartans. The last time the last Edinburgh team in the cup was neither Hearts nor Hibs was 1938, when St Bernard's were beaten by East Fife in the second semi-final replay.
Before that, it was Murrayfield Amateurs in 1929, and Leith Athletic in 1904 (possibly St Bernard's again in-between).

It's everything I would expect from an intense sherry bomb. Plenty of sweet dark fruit on the nose, with dark chocolate and toffee. Hints of citrus. Thick, sticky, sweet caramel on the palate, chocolate orange, lovely gingery spice with a nice nuttiness. Long, warm, cardamom and spice finish. It really opens up with a few drops of water.
A great winter sipper and fantastic value at under fifty quid.Friday night #football with a #ScottishCup match. with Threave Rovers at home to Stranraer - five levels above them. Could be close or perhaps a gubbin, but whatever, a big night for the wee toon of Castle Douglas.
