  1. They don't make Hifi like this anymore. Peak Sansui early 80ies Spring-Reverb. (For sale btw! – now on ebay: ebay.de/itm/158029383872 ) #Sansui #hifi #oldschool #gear #audio #retro

  2. #audio trivia: analog chain in Marantz cinema 30 is so damned bad, you need to fire up Dirac EQ/room correction to make a high end turntable and phono stage sound better than a Crosley - but just run the phono stage through a 1979 #Sansui AU-719 and you beat Dirac hands down.

  9. My grandfather recently gave me his turntable. It's a Sansui FR-D35. Automatic direct drive. And a Sansui cart with a SC-50 elliptical stylus! Works perfectly, just needed a deep clean. And after testing it, I think it sounds _better_ than my Audio-Technica AT-LP120X turntable! So I'm going to try using it for a while.

  10. SANSUI Compo Mighty 7 [Japan 1982]
Computer sound system with integrated amplifier. Such elegant silver interface at that time.

  12. I really need to either find someone capable of fully restoring this #Sansui or figure out how to do it myself. It *works* but needs at a minimum, a total re-cap. #analog #hifi #music #80s

  13. Power switch on my amp is failing/noisy. Easy part is pulling it. Hard part is finding a similarly rated modern replacement that fits and won't cost more than this amp did!

  14. New video! I'm repairing and restoring a 1977/78 Sansui SC-1100 tape deck. Replacing the belts, recapping the boards and doing lots of cleaning and lubrication. Link: youtu.be/pgC-ewegKlk #Sansui #VintageHifi #VintageAudio #TapeDeck #Repair #Restoration #Cassette #Tape #SC1100 #VUmeters

  15. That concludes the first part of this restoration/repair and I have to say I am very happy with the result. I’m going to have to revisit and do some adjustments when I have some proper test tapes. Works fairly well already though (and it looks absolutely magnificent in my opinion)! #Sansui #SC1100 #TapeDeck #Repair #Restoration #VintageAudio #VintageHifi

  16. Side note: it’s such a nice experience working on 70s/80s tech that was actually build to be serviceable! Didn’t even have to take the circuit board out or remove any other parts except for the top cover and the bottom plate. Everything is easily accessible after that. #Sansui #SC1100 #TapeDeck #Repair #Restoration #VintageAudio #VintageHifi

  17. I also went ahead and replaced all the electrolytic capacitors on the main PCB. Many of the old ones were bulging and/or leaking electrolyte. These older caps often leak through the rubber seals on the bottom so the damage is invisible until you remove them. I used polyester film caps to replace the very small value electrolytic caps below 1uF. #Sansui #SC1100 #TapeDeck #Repair #Restoration #VintageAudio #VintageHifi

  18. There is a pretty clever translucent plastic light pipe behind the mechanism, so the bulb doesn’t interfere with the mechanical parts. I love little engineering feats like that. #Sansui #SC1100 #TapeDeck #Repair #Restoration #VintageAudio #VintageHifi

  19. I tinkered some more and made my own seasonal ornament yesterday evening. The plastic holder for the 12V lamp lighting the tape from the backside was missing altogether. I solved the issue with several layers of heat shrink tubing and a small cable tie. Works like a charm! #Sansui #SC1100 #TapeDeck #Repair #Restoration #VintageAudio #VintageHifi

  20. Spent the better part of last night using up all my cotton swabs and gallons of different lubricants and isopropanol. Got the mechanism working nicely now. The motor could use some lubrication on the back bearing but I didn’t dare taking it apart yet. I also need to get myself some proper test tapes to set everything up eventually. Very happy with the progress so far though! Just needs one lamp replaced and more new caps. #Sansui #SC1100 #TapeDeck #Repair #Restoration #VintageAudio #VintageHifi

  21. Belts replaced, flywheel freed of gunk, mechanics lubricated. We’re getting somewhere. Needs lots more cleaning and lubrication to work more reliably still but so far things are very promising! Even the lights still work, except the one behind the cassette compartment. #Sansui #SC1100 #TapeDeck #Repair #Restoration #VintageAudio #VintageHifi

  22. The capacitor with the leakage visible on top ate its own leg. Thankfully the solder pad was not damaged, just needed a good scrubbing with a glass fiber pen and some IPA. Power board fully recapped now and the deck turns on fine. Next up: replacing the belts. #Sansui #TapeDeck #VintageAudio #InTheLabDoingStuff

  23. In the lab, doing stuff. Bought this deck from a coworker years ago. At first glance, it needs new belts (the old ones turned into goo), new capacitors and some new lights. #Sansui #TapeDeck #VintageAudio #InTheLabDoingStuff
