I had a spare control board for my #Aquila #3DPrinter (I thought it had failed, but turns out it was the thermistor...) so I investigated if klipper is supported. Turns out that the HC32 processor on the is actually supported thanks to somene's efforts. Cue me bumbling through the install for Armbian, klipper, mainsail, crowsnest. All of this running on a #Rock64 board that used to be an email server.
Everything seems to work without having the mechanics of the printer itself connected. At some point I should psych myself up for pulling the printer apart and swapping over the boards.
Maybe I should print a case first though?

another post on my blog, #PineBudsPro first impressions, is now available at my new domain https://hamblingreen.com! i'll explore my week with the new @PINE64 earbuds and talk about the future of this community driven project with a few music puns thrown in. as always, an rss feed is available on the site. this is a special one as it's the first post on the site hosted on my #Rock64 home server. i'm still figuring out letsencrypt stuff, so for now it says its a self signed certificate. enjoy!

i'm working on a first impressions article on the #PineBuds covering my personal experience after 3 full days of use, and i'm really impressed so far with them! i'm currently working on hosting my website on my #rock64 sbc, and will put up the article at hamblingreen.com when i get the self hosting situation sorted. i'll also toot here when that article goes live, it's been too long since my last full blog post.

We have a #discourse forum now for @ammanvms - check it out! https://ammanvalley.foss.wales/ - I used a https://foss.wales subdomain so we can show that #foss can be used by small initiatives in #Wales. I followed https://github.com/discourse/discourse/blob/main/docs/INSTALL-cloud.md using a free account on https://mailjet.com and hosting it on a #rock64 develoment board https://pine64.com/product/rock64-2gb-single-board-computer/ that I found following @linmob.

My main barrier to #selfhosting is a static ip. My ISP charges ~ $75/mo for it and without it some requests are going to fail until the dynamic DNS updates - and it seems my IP changes often.
For something only I use, that's fine, but not for hosting a community service.
So, I pay DigitalOcean $6/mo until I find a better VPS provider and my #Pine64 #Rock64 mostly idles 🤷

Hi, mastodoners! #pinetime
Thinking of building a 📺 #mediacentre using #pine #rock64 or maybe the still-too-expensive-for-me #rockpro64
Is it worthwhile or should I stick to #raspberrypi "everything is solved" model ? -
I spent hours yesterday night to try to make #filestash (an elegant frontend for whichever backend you want for your files : sftp, Dropbox, Amazon S3, CalDav, CardDav, you name it) work on my #Pine64 #Rock64, whose architecture (arm64) is not supported.
And boy, to see it work on my web browser after hours of tinkering...
