#rk3328 — Public Fediverse posts

Picked up an Android TV box very cheaply at the thrift store. Looks like it all works. But - and I'm looking for advice here - is it worth trying to flash Linux on it?

It's a Tanix TX-28: rockchip rk3328 (quad core, A53), 4 GB RAM, 32 GB eMMC. I remember having an RK-something SBC a while back, and it was a pain to work with

These #ARM #rk3328 based SBCs are going to drive me insane. I'm currently booting the #debian installer for #aarch64 over pxe because they're making use of eMMC modules instead of SD cards and the installer has to run through twice with me re-flashing u-boot twice in order to get a running system. These logs should be interesting once I get around to looking at them.

Say what you will about raspberry pi's, they work, solid as rocks. Trying for the nth time to do something useful with my 2* #renegade #rk3328 Chinese SBCs, no updated images since 2018 and barely any (translated) documentation.

It's a less fun experience for sure
