  1. CW: Thomas Friedman

    Putting myself out a limb here but I don’t think either #randaabdelfattah or #thomasfriedman should be silenced. They both bring prospective on a complex issue. Friedman may be less passionate than Abdel-Fattah but that could be put down to personal experience. I think they both have said things that I don’t agree with but like most people, who aren’t evil, they have said many good/important things. I would have liked to have seen both at the #adelaidewritersweek

  5. Adelaide Festival board resigns and Adelaide Writers’ Week cancelled after 180 authors pull out in protest of Zionist board decision to disinvite Palestinian author.

    Remember this, if you’re a Zionist: like the Nazis before you, you are committing genocide, you are on the wrong side of history, and – as long as there are people of good moral character and conscience to oppose you – you will not succeed. Your only allies are the MAGAs of the world and those too spineless to stand up to them and to fascism. And your entire movement that conflates support for settler colonialism, apartheid, ethnic cleansing, and genocide with being Jewish is fundamentally antisemitic, an affront to Jews who oppose Zionism, and makes Jews everywhere less safe.

  11. #randaabdelfattah #writersweek #Adelaidefestival #Adelaide #australia #zionism #Malinauskas

    Goss;

    TLDR; Mali lied.

    "Someone in the Palestine coordinating group posted this.

    According to an insider I spoke with yesterday evening the line of pressure for axing the WW attendance of Dr Abdel-Fattah came directly from Premier Malinauskas to the AF board.

    They failed to resist this demand and accordingly required the WW execs to withdraw the invitation to Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah.

    So this means maximum activist pressure must be put on Malinauskas who must be persuaded to agree to the ban being revoked.

    Malinauskas was being disingenuous when he said he could not order the AF board to axe the writer even though he approved of it. He may not be able order the axing by decree but he could certainly put an awful lot of pressure of various kinds on the AF board behind the scenes.

    The AF board itself might have been quite ready to do his bidding since they are bureaucrats, not artists."
