@prav is now declared stable for everyday use at #PravConf 26, Thiruvananthapuram!

We have been running it as public beta testing for over a year already.

We have been able to resolve issues we noticed during this and we are now confident to provide a reliable service for everyone.

Though we still have many more improvements in mind.

@codewizard @rimu @Jerry @prav Better than #WhatsApp because we have users privacy as priority unlike them. Their business model depends on collecting personal data. Signal is better than WhatsApp, but it still controlled by a single organization. Prav is part of #XMPP network so people who don't like Prav have choice of using other apps like #Quicksy and still talk to all #Prav users.

@tuxicoman @prav it is very close to #quicksy in current state as we started from quicksy. It offers a choice to users - they can choose either Quicksy or #Prav without considering what their friends are using and users of either app can talk to users of the other app. We made small changes already like changing SMS provider so it works in countries like Nepal and Brazil where Quicksy SMS don't get delivered. We hope to offer custom username option and may eventually get other features.

I don't get the difference with #Quicksy it's not obvious

Thanks to @double_a_runi 's 'how hard can it be attitude' we have fixed a regression in @prav 's contact discovery when we updated our #android app, but did not update the server in sync (both are based on #quicksy).

So with this, we are set to exit beta and consider ourselves stable / Generally Available soon.

@prav was rejected by #Apple from app store saying it is similar to #Quicksy and #Monal. So we are exploring our options to make Prav available to iPhone users. Ideas and help welcome.

We are also looking at #aptoid and also filing a complaint with Competition Commission. Why should we allow Apple to gatekeep apps on iPhone?

I'm testing #xmpp with #snikket today. It was straight forward to install the server. Like 10minutes. I was very impressed!!

But then the problem started… with #encryption key managment problem.

Basically I wanted to write to a #quicksy user (aka myself) and that didn't work because of some 'Aucun appareil pour qui chiffrer ce message n'a été trouvé. Recherche d'appareils en cours…'

I know that there is a lot of work to improve the situation. I'm open to report bugs, but I have no idea if it should be done in snikket, quicksy, gajim, kaidan …

1) Finding a surprising commonality with a good friend
2) #Quicksy #XMPP is apparently getting huge uptake - I'm glad about that.
3) The pace of #Flarum development has picked up a lot lately. It's something that makes me feel optimism.

Moin, dann mal viel Erfolg beim Ausprobieren. In meinem Bekanntenkreis hat sich der Standard #XMPP durchgesetzt (Technikanfänger/-innen kann man da gut mit #Quicksy abholen bzw. auf https://imday.de/ verweisen).

Als Vorbereitung fuer den morgigen DiDay (absichtlich ohne Hashtag) habe ich die Conversations Seite auf meiner Seite endlich begonnen.
Ich biete seit Jahren fuer die ganze Familie selfhosted Zeug an: NextCloud (frueher ownCloud), Jabber, Email, Webseiten-Hosting, wasmanhaltsomacht.

Was man aber auch merkt: Ich bin kein grosser Dokumentierer. Aber ich geb mein Bestes. Ist noch nicht fertig, aber hat Grundlagen.

@daniel I'm using Conversations with my own #xmpp server but would like to check if people in my address book are registered on the #quicksy directory. Is there some automated way to do that apart from installing the quicksy app?
