  2. Oregon State University's Open Source Lab was halfway through it's migration in February 2026.

So I'm sure they'd appreciate funds if some folks have deep pockets and want to help. You can read more about the migration and how that helps #FOSS projects in the post below

  3. You know, Oregon State University, I know that you appreciate my donation towards #OSUOSL, but y'all don't have to send me 4 of the exact same thank you cards.

    Just saying...

    #Oregon

  4. Yesterday the #postmarketos gitlab instance unfortunately experienced some data loss from an infra problem. It's easy to blame the people handling the infra, but let me say that I'm super grateful that we have the #OSUOSL around and don't have to go it alone.

Without @ramereth and his team of students, we would be spending many hours attempting to manage this critical infra on our own instead of focusing on our mission.

@ramereth and #OSUOSL are truly amazing! Thank you for all you do! ❤️

  5. This week in #FDroid (TWIF) was live but we had other bussiness to attend to:

Huge congrats to @ramereth and the team for securing their necessary funding.

If you or your organization were still considering supporting , don't let this good news stop you. Help it thrive, not just survive!

  8. @osuosl Donated some amount, hope it adds up.

  9. @itsfoss
Thank you very much #OSUOSL for your important work so far. But sorry to say, imo the best would be to move the services to outside the USA. USA is not a reliable region anymore for hosting free and opensource services.

  10. This week in #FDroid (TWIF) is live, a bit late:

    * #reproducible status in website app details
    * #Conversations_im & #Quicksy fix bugs
    * Linwood Butterfly Adonis Blue

  11. If you are reading this post, you have benefited from OSUOSL. Projects supported by them power today's Internet architecture.

We know that OSUOSL is worth saving. But we need organizations that rely on the Internet to get on the same page.

If you're in the tech industry, ask your employer to arrange an ongoing sponsorship of the program now, before it is too late. The clock is ticking.

  12. The OSU open source lab is one of those lynchpins for many Projects in FOSS.

Even small projects like @librecast depend on those servers. To be clear we don't host our project infrastructure with them.

But when we do a Librecast release it gets tested on Debian infrastructure to package it for #Debian and #Guix. Which OSUOSL is a part of.

So if you can spare some cash for this lab, please do so.

    Our ecosystem depends on this.

  13. Hello fellow fans of Open Source Software. You may have heard that the OSU Open Source Lab is in danger of closing.

    osuosl.org/blog/osl-future/

If you don't know, the OSL has been a vital presence in the OS ecosystem for 20+ years, hosting projects, building infrastructure, and training students in OS philosophy, systems, and software. Their influence has been profound, if often unsung. Projects they host run the Internet, people they trained work in tech around the world.

  14. Just made a donation to the #OSUOSL .

I started my software development journey in college pulling down random Linux ISOs and installing them with friends on weekends. OSUOSL has been invaluable for the open source community and helped give me start my career, and I'm happy to give back.

  15. With the latest funding predicament at #osuosl, I can't help but wonder how much money the public Oregon State University "invests" annually in college sports programs and infrastructure.

Their financial report curiously doesn't get into that much detail, but I bet it's significantly more than $0.25m.

  16. I sure hope we can all rally around OSUOSL and get them the funding they need to continue their invaluable work.

has a server hosted there that provides a number of vm's as well as a power10 instance for package maintainers to test their packages on power10.

They have touched so many open source communities!

If you have a way to help them, please do!

  17. Various #OpenZFS resources are hosted at @osuosl in Corvallis, Oregon and their funding is threatened.

They host many critical open source projects and we thank them for their excellent service.

Please consider a donation to the #OSUOSL and talk to your organization about supporting their important work.

  18. The beacons are lit, @osuosl calls for aid: 🚨 Oregon State University Open Source Lab will shut down this year if funding is not met. 🚨

Among countless other open source projects, OSL supports Rocky Linux by hosting our ppc64le and s390x build environments.

Please consider donating to . Talk to your organizations about the open source software they depend on that in turn depends on OSL, and ask them to consider donating.

  19. Apparently the Oregon State University Open Source Lab is in fairly desperate need of funding, and will likely eventually need to find some new datacenter space. This facility has been and remains a valuable resource for Open Source projects of all kinds. osuosl.org/blog/osl-future/ #opensource #osuosl

  20. @osuosl #OSUOSL are good people. They are a load bearing part of true Open Source. Please consider helping them:

  21. Libera.Chat would not be what we are today, if not for OSL's sponsorship of the network before us.

OSL has been an integral part of open source and open culture project support for a very long time. They support projects we use, learn from, and contribute to. Many of these projects call Libera.Chat home.

Nonprofits, businesses, governments, and you all depend on projects OSL sponsors. If not directly, then somewhere upstream.

    OSL is worth saving.

  22. @osuosl has been around for 22 years. They kindly host our gitlab for 6 months now, and provide important services for more than 150 other free and open source software communities such as @alpinelinux, @chimera , @debian, @fdroidorg, @gentoo, @gnome, @LineageOS, , @torproject. Now their future is in jeopardy 😢

We usually don't ask this, but please boost for reach, this is important infrastructure for so many FLOSS projects! :boostRequest:
