  1. In 1972, Jeanne Manford walked the Christopher Street Liberation Day Parade with her son Morty and a handmade sign: 'Parents of Gays: Unite.' Letters came from everywhere. PFLAG was the direct result. She lived to see marriage equality. Eight words. One movement. The love that got there first.

  6. On June 19th, we'll be hosting author Jacob Engelsman in conversation with local doula and lactation educator Corey Graywood. Together they'll be discussing Jacob's new book "Lactation for the Rest of Us," a guide for transmasculine parents, transfeminine parents, non-binary parents, queer parents, adoptive parents, and others who are often left out of conversations about chestfeeding.

At a time when the US government is rolling back trans health in devastating ways, this book offers queer and trans people access to leading-edge information about bodily autonomy!

To make this event more accessible, participants may attend in-person or join a live stream of the conversation on our YouTube channel. You can learn more about this event on our website at firestorm.coop/events/3402-che.

  17. TODAY IN QUEER TV HISTORY

THE TRACEY ULLMAN SHOW - 5/17/1987, Fox

This early episode of Ullman's sketch-comedy show introduces 13-year-old Francesca and her two dads, at a time when same-sex parents were largely invisible in U.S. culture.

Dan Castellaneta (the voice of Homer Simpson) and Sam McMurray play the male couple. This family appears in at least ten episodes from 1987 to 1990, presented casually and affectionately.

The playlets usually last about 12 minutes. Most of the stories involve all three characters, though one sketch focuses just on David and William ("Flesh and Desire" in 1989, in which they try out vegetarianism).
