Marsha Aizumi, a giant in LGBTQ+ Nikkei circles, has passed. Marsha was the force behind the founding of Okaeri, the first conference for queer Japanese Americans. Okaeri led to groups, books, and many new resources. The positive impact on Christian, Buddhist, and other groups has been immense.

Another criticism of #PFLAG local chapters is there are not a lot of #LGBTQIA folk. Of course, that's not their mission or historical membership. P and F are allies, and even though the group doesn't spell out their name any longer, it really still at its root a parents and friends group.
This is just preliminary stage, but look for organizational meeting info in the future if this goes forward.

Some folks are thinking of re-starting or reviving the #Denton #PFLAG chapter. I know there was a local chapter when we came to Denton, but it seems to have fizzled out. I've been trying to find out online what criticisms people have of the national and local chapters, and other than conservative criticism, the only real criticism I have seen online is that their local chapter is dying or that it's all old people (Gen-X and up). We are Gen-X and younger boomers.

This tells the community we are here, we are here for you,' Sheila Lopez said.
