  1. We have room for contributed talks and (free) registrations for our 2025 #phylodynamics meeting in Paris from Nov. 24 to 26, 2025.

Guest speakers are Emmanuel André (KY Leuwen), Noémie Lefrancq (ETH Zürich), Lu Lu (U of Edinburgh), and Eduardo Mojeno (IFICS).

  2. #Phylodynamics of Avian #Influenza A(#H5N1) Viruses from #Outbreaks in #Brazil, Virus Res.: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/388803

Our study identified strains of the A/H5N1 virus in analyzed samples of subsistence #poultry, wild #birds, and #mammals, belonging to clade 2.3.4.4b,
#genotype #B32, with very high genetic similarity to strains from #Chile, #Uruguay, and #Argentina. This suggests a migratory route for wild birds across the Pacific, explaining the phylogenetic relatedness...

  3. For #MSc and #PhD students interested in #epidemiology, the #ENS #ImaLiS master in #Paris will be organising an Advanced Biology Course next year with a focus on #phylodynamics from Sept to Dec.

  4. We reconstructed the recent transmission history of #YellowFeverVirus in #Brazil. A suitability index was able to capture the seasonality of #zoonotic cases. Spatial modeling revealed hotspots with both past reporting and low #vaccination coverage, coinciding with the largest urban centers in the Southeast. #Phylodynamics identified 3 lineages & provided proof of the directionality of a spatial corridor connecting the endemic North with the extra-Amazonian basin.

  5. The French #phylodynamics #GDR is organising a meeting in Lyon from July 3 to 5.

Attendance is free but registration mandatory.

    Don't hesitate to submit abstracts!

  6. Infectious disease forecasting is vital for epidemic and pandemic preparedness – but current models leave something to be desired. Could incorporating genetics, genomics, and phylodynamics close the accuracy gap?

  7. Through a combination of phy and epi models we reconstructed the recent transmission of #yellowfever virus in #Brazil.

#Modelling revealed spatial hotspots with both past reporting and low vaccination coverage, which coincided with the largest Southeast urban centres.

#Phylodynamics unravelled three distinct #YFV lineages, and provided proof of the directionality of a known spatial corridor of spread that connects the endemic North with the extra-Amazonian basin.
