I like the little charging dongle for the Pebble Time 2. However, it is rather small and so I was worrying that it would be so easy to lose/misplace. For those of us that had/have a Pebble Time (and maybe other versions), the charging cable for that older watch also works on the Time 2. Reassuring! I can sleep easy now.
-
Oh, this is frustrating! My Pebble Time 2 has been delivered a day early. I have too many things to do before I can open the boxes. 🫣
edit: fixed alternate text.

Published my first Pebble watchface!

@TechConnectify mentioned the #pebblewatch in his latest video and I think I want one.
It's an e-ink smart watch that promises battery life of over a week and is fully open source. It will probably work great with my degoogled phone.
-
@fuzzyface I also brought out of retirement my two Pebble watches, the original one and a Pebble Time. The latter won't charge or start up unfortunately but the original one works just fine! Battery lasts about 4-5 days which is quite reasonable. I've started wearing it again in preparation for the arrival of the PT2! Cannot wait...

Pebble.

Looks like the back button on my original Pebble Time has given up this morning :(
Searching for repair info doesn't seem to find a lot of useful things these days, does anyone have any good guides saved/bookmarked on repairing the buttons? Specifically the back button
I've got a whole new watch on preorder but I'd like this to carry on just a bit longer!

I am ever so slightly embarrassed, feeling a little foolish basically.
I have a Pebble classic (the original one). I stopped using it some time ago because the screen would end up corrupted after several hours of operation. I went out and bought a Garmin but still used the Pebble now and again (for a few hours at a time only).
Fast forward a few years: I decided to try a different watch face. It turns out that there's no problem with the Pebble hardware, only with that particular watch face I had been using! All these years, I've been missing out on using the Pebble.
So I'm back to using the Pebble full time. It's just so much nicer, not just the incredible variety of watch faces I can choose from but especially in terms of the consistency in the user interface compared with the Garmin. Makes me look forward even more to the delivery of the new Pebble Time 2! :-)
The Garmin is relegated to when I need/want the GPS facility.

Another Wear OS Smartwatch Maker Appears to Have Given Up
> It’s now much harder to buy a Mobvoi TicWatch and it's only committing to "essential" software support.
Well glad I bought the #pebblewatch just waiting for my order to come early next year. Just enough time for the ticwatch to survive a little longer 🤔

🕰️ Wow, the Pebble Watch software has finally transitioned from 95% to 100% open source. It's like watching paint dry, but with extra code! 🎨 The revolutionary idea here is #decentralization, because apparently, that’s something people still pretend to be excited about in 2023. 🙄

Watch: P2D
Firmware: normal_asterix_v4.9.81Today, my watch didn't let me enter the menu anymore. It reacted to calls and the start of the charging process. But it wouldn't go back to the home screen. I've powercycled it twice but that doesn't resolve the issue. It's connected to my phone, showing the pebble OS logo.
Any ideas how to resolve this?

🥴 Ah yes, Pebble watches—a relic of the past stubbornly clinging to their #Kickstarter glory days. 🎉 Eric Migicovsky is back with an epic saga of Pebble #drama, as if anyone asked for another episode of tech soap opera. 🙄 Spoiler alert: It's still not 2009, and nobody cares about your link exchange program. 👏

Response from the Pebble side:
https://ericmigi.com/blog/pebble-rebble-and-a-path-forwardI'm not sure where to land on this. I think the core measure long-term will be how much of the ecosystem that Pebble keeps open source. The more that this gets structured in a way that makes it harder for them to close parts of the ecosystem in the future, the easier it will be to trust them.

Gerade hab ich freudig meine alte #pebblewatch wieder in Betrieb genommen, da gibt es auch schon wieder Ärger im Paradies. 😞

Looks like I won't be getting a new Pebble after all. 😢
I've been excited but wary over the new Pebble watches. Now the waryness had proven to be right. Greed sucks.

My P2D has reached Europe and has been picked up from the airport on Friday. Now it's waiting in another location in a nearby country since Monday. The waiting is so hard - I had to share the burden 😂
-
If you're on Android, you could get very detailed battery metrics without reducing the battery life of your watch by using #gadgetbridge

it was sitting exactly where I thought it was, sans band but right next to the charge cable & some watch strap pins – I dug out an old Apple watch band to match the “aged” appearance, removed the Apple connector, et voilà 💁♀️
I charged it Monday night & took it off Tuesday morning, so it’s at ~2.5 days uptime just sitting on a desk but alerting & vibrating for every notification – Battery+ app is throwing up a “0 Hour Left” screen periodically but is showing 41% remaining in the app ¯_(ツ)_/¯ (& the Battery Lifetime app concurs, showing 40%)
the app just prompted me to update the firmware to v4.4.1-rbl so I’ll do that then stick it back on the charger so Battery+ can start tracking charge cycles & discharge rates 😊
