I picked up a tempered glass screen protector for my #Pebble time 2. I'll admit I was a bit skeptical at first but after installing it, it's amazing you forget it's even there.

My new #PebbleTime2 https://repebble.com/watch arrived right when I left for Melbourne. Now that I'm back in town I'm setting it up.
The motion-activated backlight isn't working and neither is step-counting, so I'm pretty certain the motion sensor or accelerometer or whatever in the watch is broken. *sigh*
I've emailed the company about it. We'll see what they say.

Made a simple #pebble watch app so I can open my garage door with the watch. There was a similar app available, but it didn't work. Just enter the URL that needs to be called, add user and password with if needed. That's it. #pebblewatch #repebble

17 days ago I finally received my #Pebble Time 2. Today is the first time I need to charge the battery - that’s quite impressive for a smartwatch!

Of course it only offers a friction of all the features other watches offer - but for me it’s a nice revisit of the Pebble Steel I owned 12 years ago (https://cstan.io/en/post/2014/08/pebble-steel-black-matte/). Some things are still buggy and in development but that’s part of the fun - it’s a hackable device.

Pebble Time 2 Review

So the new pebble battery life seems to be as I originally remembered it. I got mine and started using it on Tuesday (26th of May) and it was at 67% when I opened the package and put it on my wrist that evening. I haven't charged it once, and it's currently at 26% today on Sunday (31st of May).

I've kept the dynamic backlighting off, turned off the wake light on motion, and have the default light intensity set to high. I'm also really impressed again with how well it looks in the sunlight. When you're in a well lit room or in broad daylight, you don't need the backlight at all. Since the watchface I use already has all the info I really care about (date, time, temp, steps, battery life), I don't actually need to wake it very often. I think this contributes to the long battery life.

I have notifications from my phone, but I've tuned them to only go to my pebble when they're important. (so no notifications if someone edits a posts on fedi for instance). I use the comic drop watchface right now, and the apps I pull up the most are the default health app and calculator (I have that one mapped to long press on the down button because it's super useful).

I've kept it on during sleep, walks, and runs. So far, in it's default state, with minimal customization, it's exactly what I want in a smart watch:

• time and date
• long battery life
• counts my steps
• monitors my sleep
• gives me the temp
• has a basic calculator
• has a timer
• alarm clock
• controls for whatever music app is playing
• show me upcoming appointments
• bonus: allow me to add in common bar codes I use at supermarkets for discounts
• bonus: has a way to make new apps for it (though I haven't yet successfully made one, I am working on it)

Honestly, if it just keeps doing what it's doing right now, I could see myself buying a second one, just so that when this one breaks or no longer works in some way, I have a backup.

I'm using my Pebbles together with #gadgetbridge (even long before Core Devices came around).

Batch 1, ordered minutes after the release.

I'm using silicone straps. Going to try metal and leather on the PT2.

I did back in mid March. Am supposedly in Batch 4. I haven't gotten a shipping confirmation E-mail. Initially was told it'd be late April... Got one PT2 for myself and one for My partner. Was hoping she'd get it for her Birthday. Ah well. lol

I am still pretty excited for it. Was trying to find 22mm wristbands. Anyone got suggestions?

Suggests for faces or other apps to use on or with it? Phone is running #GrapheneOS, FWIW.

Hier, frage ins Internetz: Als die RePebble angekündigt wurde hieß es, dass die eventuell mit Apple-Handys nicht ordentlich funktioniert. Hat sich das mittlerweile geklärt? Gibt's da ein Update? Hat jemand Erfahrungen? Ich finde nur die Announcements von vor knapp einem Jahr.

Wheee! Just ordered one of these, plus the silly ring thing.

Suffice to say I absolutely love my Pebble 2 Duo and this open, extensible model for smartwatches is vastly preferable to me than the Apple/Samsung/Google and other smartwatch offerings.
