Quietly rooting for the stubborns.
Seeing artwork for a children's book about a horse that refuses to be broken to the saddle, I realized I was rooting for the horse. That makes me think I should keep my opinions to myself on some subjects around here.

I was today years old when I learned that if we had divided the year into 13 months rather than 12, each month would contain exactly 28 days and begin on a Monday and end on a Sunday.

Okay, clearly I have an imperfect understanding of how Mastodon posts get in my timeline.
I _thought_ that I should see the posts of people I follow or the posts that they boosted in my notification stream. This morning I noticed a couple of posts in that stream that were neither.
Thoughts, insight or tutoring appreciated on this matter.
Nothing against posts with half-naked bodies per se but I'm old and startle easily.

Letting him get away with outrageous acts and then trying to reason with him hasn't really worked out too well for those of us here in the U.S.
Maybe you should hold him accountable and kick the U.S. out of their Greenland bases as a tangible consequence for his 'little dick' energy and threats?

I’ve been playing around with Python a bit this morning. My knowledge of Python is minimal.
At work, I primarily code in Ruby on Rails. Everybody likes to shit on Ruby on Rails for being “old tech”.
But let me tell you: Bundler absolutely beats the SHIT out of pip for dependency resolution and ease of use, hands down. There is no contest.
I am amazed that modern coding is primarily based on JavaScript and Python, two languages with toolchains that are LEGENDARY TRASHFIRES. I swear, using various 8-bit embedded C toolchains fifteen years ago was less esoteric and frustrating than dealing with this bullshit.

With Apple hardware becoming so fast why software nowadays feels so slow? Slack apps with empty state before loading anything, SwiftUI apps mostly doing the same, all the web going full bloatware, too-slow mostly eye-candy animations. Really don't like this.

Our local weather service has figured out they have a *much* higher accuracy rate for their forecasts if they wait to publish until the weather event has started. 🤦♂️ 🤔
Absolutely no rain in the forecast when we started our day today. Current forecast... Rain - 100%
Their accuracy is just uncanny. 🙄
Perhaps we should start calling it a 'currentcast' or even an 'aftercast'.

#Pinterest 's user experience #ux is horrendous these days. I remember back when it was a board you could pin things on. Now I have to click 6 menus deep to get back to my board.
When I click my board I have to click another link to "View board" rather than see #ads and #AIslop *inspired by* my board. Just give me my board! Give me your thoughts about it AFTER you let me use MY board!
Can folks suggest any #Fediverse #alternatives to this #oldmanyellingatclouds?

Racing thoughts.
I think maybe the thing I've forgotten most quickly living in a small town is the amount of ambient noise in a big city.
We're on the fourth floor of the hotel and can distinctly hear the guys (because it's always guys) tearing up and down the street in their faux street-racers with Glasspack Cherrybomb mufflers and after-market stereo systems. Always between midnight and 2:30AM 🤦♂️
I'm ready to go home now.

I admit, I might be getting old, but at what point does this cutesy, bubbly, rounded icon thing top out? It's edging into an accessibility issue at this point where every item is just another pastel marshmallow, like an unhealthy breakfast cereal.

I wasn’t going to opiniate on Dricus and the fight tomorrow even though it’s everywhere I look and hear but then my car insurance sent an email tying in with the fight and then I read this on News24 tied in with the Springboks:
“What I am most looking forward to is the referee dragging me off Israel Adesanya, asking me and begging me to stop. That is what I am looking forward to most.”
I can’t with this MMA guys. I like rugby and I know rugby is roff and there are absolutely rugby okes who just want to go out there and moer other okes but that’s not what I enjoy about rugby. MMA even more so than professional boxing seems to just be about donnering the other oke. The posturing before hand is nauseating. How is Dricus a good role model for South Africa eish.
